Jenison, MI: With practice starting this week for the 2018-19 season, many teams have not had a full week of practice yet, but that did not stop 16 teams from battling it out on Saturday afternoon at Jenison High School. National power Detroit Edison along with title contenders East Kentwood, East Lansing and many more was in attendance. Here's a brief look at some standout players.

2021 Kaybriana Hallman 6'3" Post East Kentwood HS
Hallman showed that she could be a dominant rim protector.  This was obvious during the tournament as she altered and blocked shot after shot.  She ran the floor well and cashed in on several offensive putbacks in transition.  Already an exceptional rebounder on both ends KB, as her teammates call her, will become more of a force as she continues to progress and get stronger.

2022 Theryn Hallock 5'8" SG Forest Hills Central HS
Hallock has a knack for scoring the ball.  She was often ahead of the pack as she converted in transition.  In the half court, she was a very effective offensive rebounder and scored reasonably well from the perimeter.  She was also a tough defender and strong rebounder in leading her Rangers squad to a couple of victories.

2021 Ally Vantimmerman 6'2" PF Jenison HS
Ally started off the day with an outstanding performance against East Lansing.  She played with tremendous energy, which was hard to contain.  Her soft hands and strength advantage inside led to easy layups, where she had a game-high 26 points. Throughout the day she showed her perimeter skills as she knocked down several triples which made her even more difficult to defend.

2021 Morasha Wiggins 6' SG Kalamazoo Central HS
In the games, she played Wiggins was the most versatile player on the floor.  Her skill set is awe-inspiring with a motor to match.  She used her athleticism to get steals on defense and to push the ball in transition.  From breaking defenders down off the dribble or hitting pull-up triples, Wiggins showed that she is ready to lead her Maroon Giants this upcoming season.

2020 Ahlura Lofton 5'8" SG East Lansing HS
Probably the most surprising player that I watched yesterday was Lofton. She showed a sweet shooting touch as she made deep jumpers and attacked the basket strong off the dribble in transition. Losing the 2018 Michigan Miss Basketball winner Jaida Hampton to graduation, the Trojans will need Lofton to take on more of a scoring and defensive role if they plan on making another Class A title run this season.
