2022 Lauren Sollom of the Michigan Mystics and Hartland High School, has some pretty big shoes to live up to but she is up to the challenge and would love nothing more than to help her sister and the rest of her Hartland teammates get over the quarterfinal hump and into the Final Four.

I caught up with Lauren after a very successful Summer and just before she kicks off her High School career.

What are some of the strengths of your game and what do you think you need to work on?
I think my biggest strength is I'm a supportive teammate and my speed of getting up & down the court on fast-break layups, I also feel that my length and my defense are strong areas of my game.
What I need to work on would probably is getting stronger & more physical.

When did you realize you were good at Basketball and how long have you been playing competitively?
I realized I was a good basketball player earlier this year in Spring ball, things started clicking & the game became more comfortable. I have been playing basketball since 3rd grade.

What was your favorite memory of Summer Ball?
Having fun with my teammates at hotels & bonding with the older & younger teams in our club.

Who in your opinion is the best player you faced all summer?
That’s a hard one to answer. There has been a lot of good players & competition that I have faced. And they all have made me a better player.

What are your High School team and individual goals this season?
As a team, I would love to make it past the Quarterfinals & into the Final Four I think that would be cool as a freshman.

Are you getting any interest from colleges yet?
I have 7 Division 1 schools showing interested in me right now.

What if anything do you have planned in the near future as far as camps visits?
Starting high school ball workouts & relaxing when I have downtime. No visits planned just yet.

What are you looking for in a school?
Great teammates, awesome coaches & beautiful campus!

Tell me something about yourself not many people know?
I love scary movies.

Have you had any embarrassing moments while playing basketball, if so do you mind sharing?
I had a bloody nose at the free throw line.

When you are not playing basketball what can we find you doing?
Shopping at malls with my friends, swimming, jogging around the neighborhood.

I have coached both boys and girls basketball I have my own thoughts but what do you think the difference is, and which one is better?
I think the guy’s game is more physical, but I can hang with them!
