Lex Lyon '20 helped lead a talented AA Huron frontline to a couple of victories this past weekend.

Ann Arbor, MI: The University of Michigan Women’s Basketball Program held their annual team camp on its beautiful campus in Ann Arbor, MI this past weekend. With teams from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Canada filling out the schedule and competing at a high level, it was a great atmosphere for teams to kick off their summer league schedule.

Michigan Team Camp Top Teams....

Sisters Keeper (CA)
Sisters Keeper has a solid group of 2021 players in 6’5” Latasha Lattimore ,  5’7” PG Shayeann Day-Wilson, add in 6’2” 2020 small forward Aaliyah Edwards , and 5'10" 2020 sharpshooter Rebecca Demeke. This is a team that can compete with many of the nation's best.  Sisters Keeper had a good showing in Ann Arbor this past weekend showing that they could play any style of basketball. This team is very talented at numerous positions, which is why many college coaches will be following them and going north of the border for years to come.

Homestead Lady Spartans (IN)
Homestead was very solid this past weekend with a variety of players that played well throughout the day. They are a very disciplined team who run a good motion offense where everyone touches the ball looking for the best scoring opportunity making them very difficult to defend. But watch out for their talented frontline in 6'1" 2021 Amber Austin and high flying 6'2" 2022 Ayanna Patterson, they will give teams fits on both ends of the floor with their strength and athleticism.

For the most part, good guard play wins high school basketball games, and Pickerington Central has outstanding guards that can get the job done.  PG Madison Greene '19, Maliya Perry '19 (Auburn commit) and add in transfer PG Skye Williams '21, and the Tigers have the weapons to contend for another state title.  Pickerington Central played with a lot of energy, athleticism, and defended very well. With consistently strong performances each time out, they were definitely one of the top 3 teams at the camp.

Southfield A&T Warriors (MI)
Southfield A&T should start as a pre-season Top 10 Class A team featuring a strong duo composed of experience and complementary styles.  5'9" PG Cheyanne McEvans is a threat from the outside and in the perimeter and 5’11" post Alexis Johnson '19 is a strong inside presence who does a great job of finishing on the offensive end and is also an excellent rebounder. Coach Marshall does a great job of having her teams prepared, and on Sunday her squad looked ready as they defeated some quality teams; always a good confidence booster to start off the summer.

Ann Arbor Huron River Rats (MI)
The River Rats have a solid frontcourt in 6’1” Eden Johnson '19, 5'11" Lex Lyon '20 and 5'11" Kaiden Glenn '21. Huron went 2-1 on the day losing to a good Pickerington Central (OH) team that features three D1 players on their roster. Even in defeat, the River Rats showed flashes that they could compete with the top teams. Coach Samaha is a veteran coach who is a proven winner. Huron will be a favorite in Class A this upcoming season.

Hartland Eagles (MI)
The Eagles were playing without standout Whitney Sollom '20, but that didn't stop them from competing at a high level.  Hartland played very unselfishly offensively showcasing great player and ball movement which led to many uncontested scoring opportunities. Defensively they communicated with each other, rotated well and was brilliant on the boards. 2022 players Amanda Roach and Lauren Sollom are a couple of kids to keep an eye on this upcoming season. With no seniors on their roster, the future is very bright for the Eagles.
