Raleigh, NC – Deep South 2018 features some of the most talented teams from across the country as always. This years field included 97 teams from the Carolina’s. Some very talented teams that made deep runs and a few went on to win championships. Many players used this event as a coming out party and some to remind us what they can do. It was an exciting 4 days of basketball put on by ASGR.
North Carolina Player Highlights
Jordan McLaughlin 2019 pg 1Dream 17u
A super quick guard that uses change of pace as a weapon as good as any guard in the event. I was impressed with her athleticism while finishing in traffic. She’s a vocal lead guard that locks up on defense. Her stock is defiantly rising after this event.
Zykiah Benjamin 2021 g Charlotte Flames 15u
A long athletic wing who is explosive off the bounce! Next level finisher in traffic and doesn’t shy away from the contact. Does a good job playing the passing lanes and gets her hands on a lot of balls.
Diamond Monroe 2021 g Greensboro Lady Gaters 2021
High energy player that creates everything with her pressure defense. One of the better defenders that I saw at the event. She has great size, is strong with the ball and plays through contact.
Summer Schloss 2019 pf HoopDreams Athletics NC 17u
Has great size for the 4 position, good energy, attempts to get all of the 50/50 balls. Very active on the defensive end and rebounds both ends.
Mallorie Haines 2021 g Lady Team Charlotte 17u
One of the top shooters in the event, shot it extremely well from beyond the arc. I can see the progression to the next level of her game. She is starting to make things happen going to the basket as well. Will be fun to watch as she continues to progress.
Michelle Ojo 2021 wf NC Spartans 2021 Watts
Not sure if anyone’s stock skyrocketed like Michelle’s did over the weekend. She showed the ability to play the 2-4 on both ends. A fearless competitor that backs down from no one. A lock for top 5 in her class in the Carolina’s.
Nia Howard 2021 g Team Carolina All Stars 16u
Freakishly athletic kid that excels in transition. Did a nice job finishing in traffic and being a disruption on the defensive end. Very high ceiling.
Lillian Anderson 2020 p Team Phoenix Busby 16u
Traditional post player that loves to mix it up. Very strong and tough to move off of her spot. Did a great job securing the rebound and getting the break started. She has good hands and a soft touch around the rim.

Olivia Thompson 2019 g Team South Carolina
Olivia Thompson is a pure shooter and hands on of the best shooters in SC for the Class of 2019. She has a quick release and deep range from the 3. Olivia has also enhanced her game by being able to create her shot by putting the ball on the floor for the nice mid-range pull-up. Olivia showed all in attendance that she can play both sides of the ball. Olivia's performance during Deep South has potential to raise her recruitment to another level. Within less than 24 hours she picked up her third offer of her career from Lenior Rhyne.
Lauren Brooks Sumpter 2019 g South Carolina Future
Lauren Brooks Sumpter is an explosive hard working guard with a high motor. She is great in the open court and has great court awareness. She is physical and can take a bump when she attacks the rim. She is a slasher with a deadly pull-up jumper. Lauren performance during Deep South landed her an offer from Jacksonville University. The offer from Jacksonville University will be the first of many.

Small PG, aggressive defensively, look to get into passing lane and create shots for teammates, vocal leader, very competitive
Tyashia Bostick 2019 g TMP
Fierce competitor, attacks the basket anticipating contact, strong physique, uses hips well to create space, finishes with contact in traffic
Amiah Lindsay 2019 f Palmetto Heat
Solid lengthy frame at the PF position, shot blocking specialist, very athletic, runs the floor like a guard, average ball handling skills, has the ability to bring the ball up court, finishes over opponents in traffic, can hit the 10ft jumper consistently

Dual guar, high energy, vocal leader and floor general, light feet on defense, moves very well, beautiful stroke, knocks down 3 ball
Danae McNeal 2019 g SC 76ers Black
Athletic dual guard, playmaker with a high skill set that includes a variation of moves off the dribble, utilizes the pump fake to her advantage to get open shots, consistent mid range shooter, tenacious shot blocking capability, can easily take over a game and score in bunches
Katrice Jackson 2019 f SC 76ers Black
Physical tough post, loves to bump, high competitor that doesn’t back down, clean up dirty work caliber player, fundamentally sound, sufficient free throw shooter, high IQ. Jackson was a blast to watch during Deep South, bringing a Dennis Rodman feel to the game, very gritty, and fearless.

Athletic, explosive guard, shot blocking ability, 2 way player, gets after it on both ends of the floor, rebounding guard, versatile in all aspects of the game

Disruptive in passing lanes forcing several steals and opportunities to score off of turnovers, slasher, gets shot off quickly, finishes in open court, rebounds well in traffic
