Battle Creek Central's '21 Arieonna Ware is a name to remember

Wayne, MI: The First Annual LBI Wednesday Night Showcase was held at Hype Athletics in Wayne, MI. Over 80 players came and showcased their talents in front of the LBI Staff and National Evaluator Dan Olson of the Collegiate Girls Basketball Report/ESPNW.

Prime Performers:

6’2” Post Sophie Dziekan 2020 Brighton HS
Dziekan rebounded the ball well and frequently scored around the basket.  Sophie posted up strong and made some very nice back to the basket moves. She was very active on both ends of the court and works hard. Sophie holds a few
scholarship offers as of now in which she should gather more offers shortly.

5’5” PG Kailee Davis 2021 Detroit Renaissance HS
Davis sees the floor and runs the offense. She is impressive as she changes speed in the open court and runs the transition well. She knows her position and does it very well. Always looking to make the extra pass, Kailee has a devastating hesitation move that freezes her defender which creates easy scoring opportunities for herself or teammates.

5’11” SF Jasmine Edwards 2020 Westland John Glenn HS
Edwards was too strong inside for smaller defenders and too quick for bigger defenders.  She showed a developing face-up/mid-range game possessing soft hands and a smooth finish. Edwards was limited this past high school season due to a foot injury, but she looked 100% on Wednesday night. Edwards will be a kid that many schools will be taken a hard look at this spring.

5’11” SF Arieonna Ware 2021 Battle Creek Central HS
This is a player that many have not heard of yet, but trust me you will soon hear about her. Ware made strong, assertive moves from the wing.  She is in excellent condition and noticeably strong as she looks for contact and draws tons of fouls.  Ware faced up defenders in the post and attacked as she finished with either hand.  As an added plus, she has a nice stroke from 20 feet. She’s one the best players in the state of Michigan 2021 class.

5’10” SG Jillian Brown 2021 East Grand Rapids HS
Brown is a bigger guard who is athletic and is a smooth scorer who finished with either hand around the rim and also showed the ability to put the ball on the floor. Perhaps most impressive, Jillian has an outstanding attitude and is willing to work!

5’9” SF Desiree Jackson 2021 Detroit Cass Tech HS
Jackson crashed the boards hard!
A long framed athlete, she gets to the rim quickly and efficiently.  Desiree finished very well around the rim, extending and using her length! She is a solid defender who can guard numerous positions on the floor.

5’7” Point Guard Jolee Houle 2020 Grand Haven HS
Houle has all the qualities of a big-time shooter; she shot the ball well from both the mid-range and deep. She uses her body to shield away smaller quicker guards and never looked timid even under constant aggressive pressure!  Jolee moves very well without the ball, allowing her to always to be in position for offensive put-backs.

5’10” PG Abrie Cabana 2020 Grass Lake HS
Cabana is very comfortable leading a team as she showed a solid handle throughout the night. She got the ball to teammates in transition and was deadly from 3 point range.  Abrie is a true point guard that has
good size which gives her the ability to play off the ball and still be effective on the court.

6’2” Post Kalybria Hallman 2021 Comstock Park HS
Long and athletic Hallman was a force in the paint. She blocked and altered many shots.  Hallman has good hands and was able to catch and finish easily over opponents. She’s still learning how to be more dominate in which she could be. The sky is the limit for Hallman once she puts it all together.

5’5” PG Niajah Williams 2020 Kalamazoo Central HS
The speedy guard used her superior handle to get to the paint and score or create for others all night.  She seemed composed and did well finding the balance of getting herself going and finding teammates.  She pulled off arguably the best move of the night. A “Shammgod” in the open court to a sweet finish over the top of a long defender.  She’s worth the price of admission.

5’9” G Abbey Kimball 2022 St. Anthony’s MS
As for Wednesday Night Showcase teammate, Amiyah Reynolds put it, “this one girl made everything!” That girl was Abbey Kimball.  She made catch and shoot triples…triples off the dribble…triples coming off screens…triples off loose balls!  Abbey also passed the ball well, has a nice handle and excellent court awareness. I could tell she loves the game and I loved watching her display that love!

5’4” PG Olivia Smith 2022 Memorial Park MS
Olivia Smith was at the gym early on Wednesday.  She was getting up shots and going through some last minute ball handling exercises, and it paid off.  Olivia has a deadly in-and-out she used to set up a couple drive and kicks and finishes at the basket.  Olivia distributes the ball well and is going to be a great asset to Ft. Wayne Southside next year.  Great kid with a great disposition as well.
