The fourth matchup of the 2016 MLK Classic would be the Robichaud Bulldogs against the Dexter Dreadnaughts. Early in the game, Dexter pressed Robichuad, forcing the ball out of the hands of their point guard and leading scorer. The press caused turnovers and Dexter was able to capitalize. They went into the half leading 34-18. The break did not seem to slow Dexter down or speed Robichaud up. Dexter was able to withstand Robichaud’s small run in the fourth quarter and get the win.

Taylor Olson led Dexter with 19 points and Anna Love contributed 17 points. Kayla Brown was leading scorer for the game with 20 points and Monae Palmer finished with 9 points for the Bulldogs.

Game and Team Highlights

Dearborn Heights Robichaud:

  • The Bulldogs must learn how to make adjustments without get frazzled and turning the ball over.

  • Robichaud often lacked urgency and enthusiasm. That hurt them once they got behind by double digits.

  • Playing with confidence will help the Bulldogs in the future. They beat themselves up mentally and made the game way too easy for Dexter.

Dexter:

  • Dexter was very patient on offense, moving the ball around and not allowing pressure from the Bulldogs cause them to rush.

  • The Lady Dreadnaughts did a good job of finishing the game. They continued to play hard even after they got a large lead.
