From the opening tip of this game, Manistee played as though they were on a mission. They crashed the boards for multiple scoring chances and they were clicking as a team. The Phoenix seemed to be trying to find their way and for the first half of the game trailed the Chippewas. In the middle of the third quarter, something sparked within Renaissance and they took over the game. By the end of the third quarter, all scores were tied. The Phoenix would pickup the momentum and never turn it a loose. They fought back and claimed the victory.
Siyeh Frazier received MVP honors with a game high 21 points. Her teammate Victoria Wright finished with 11. Emma Burns led the way for the Chippewas with 17 points followed by Kott with 16 points.
Game and Team Highlights
Detroit Renaissance:
The Phoenix played extremely hard and showed that they can play under adversity.
Renaissance has to play hard and with intensity early in the game. They can’t afford to play from behind against good teams.
Manistee:
Manistee has to maintain their intensity throughout the entire game. They seemed to get relaxed and that allowed Renaissance to gain some confidence.
The Lady Chippewas play very hard and together. Hopefully they use this game as a learning experience.
