Williamston’s sophomore guard Maddie Watters opened the game on a personal 7-0 run to give the Hornets a great start at the 21st Annual Motor City Roundball Classic. It started to look like Williamston would cruise to an easy victory, but the Sailors would climb back in the game to tie up the game at the half at 16 a piece. Mona Shores backcourt of Jordan Walker and Alyza Winston came out in the 3rd quarter in attack mode. They were able to get out in transition for some easy buckets to outscore the Hornets 18-9 and never looked back. They walk away with the 56-47 victory over Williamston.

MVP honors went to Jordan Walker with 22 points while her running mate Alyza Winston finished with 16 points. Maddie Watters had the team high for the Hornets with 19 points.
 

Game and Team Highlights

Williamston:

• The Hornets started out hot in the 1st quarter. They were able to get many open shots and get out on the break for uncontested layups.

• Williamston struggled in the half court once they were forced to make one on one plays.Their shooters could not find any room to get open to make any shots.

Mona Shores:

• They may be small but the Sailors really crash the boards on the offensive end of the floor. That gave them several chances for scoring opportunities.

• Mona Shores is very good at controlling the tempo. This team can play in the half court or in the open court and be effective.
