Dewitt stepped on the court focused and ready to play. It showed from the opening tip. They were vocal on defense and moved the ball well offensively. The Zebras didn’t seem intimidated and for a short time traded baskets with Dewitt and kept the game close. All that changed in the second quarter when Wayne Memorial struggled to score and it appeared as though Dewitt couldn’t miss. Wayne Memorial fought hard in the fourth quarter but couldn’t get over the hump. Panthers go home with the win.

Game MVP honors went to Lily George with 25 points, while teammate Summer Ward added 13 points. Camree’ Clegg gave the Zebras 26 points.

Game and Team Highlights

Dewitt:

  • Dewitt did an awesome job playing as a team. Regardless of who was on the court, they never skipped a beat.

  • The Panthers seemed to let off the gas in the fourth quarter. If they want to get back to get back to the Breslin, they have to play at full speed the entire game.

Wayne Memorial:

  • There were offensive plays called by the Zebras, but not too many that were executed. If they learn to be patient on offensive, they will see a big difference in their scoring.

  • Not getting back on defense really hurt Wayne Memorial. Too many players watching, not boxing out or running the floor.

  • More players have to contribute on the offensive end if the Zebras want to finish strong in their conference.
