Who would have known that these two teams would give us such an exciting game! From beginning to end, this game was filled with numerous lead changes, great defensive plays, and basketball players with a lot of heart. At the half, it seemed as though North Farmington had momentum on their side as they held on to a very small lead. Things quickly changed the last minute of the third quarter, and Everett would go on a run of their own. In the middle of the fourth, the Vikings were now the ones with the small lead and making very smart plays…but not hitting free throws; which allowed North Farmington to stay in the game. After some crucial plays in the final minute, including a technical foul on Everett, both teams were tied and we’re going to overtime! The Vikings were able to fight through fatigue and nerves and finish the game victorious.

Game MVP and leading scorer for Everett was Tazjah Pruitt with 13 points. Game high scorer went to Kiera Crockett from North Farmington with 15 points.

Game and Team Highlights

North Farmington:

  • There were moments when the Lady Raiders could have folded but didn’t. They should hold their heads high after this game.

  • Turnovers were a key part in why the game was as close as it was. There were many instances where North Farmington hurt themselves more than Everett did.

  • Free throws made in the clutch can made or break a team. Unfortunately for the Raiders, it broke them.

Lansing Everett:

  • Players have to keep their composure at all times. The unnecessary technical foul in the final minutes of regulation came very close to costing the Vikings the game.

  • Somebody has to step up and be the floor leader on this team. A person for the others to look to for guidance on both ends of the court.

  • The Vikings coaching staff did a good job of not dwelling on mistakes, but forcing the girls to focus on finishing the game.
