Detroit Edison jumped out quick on the Lady Indians and was quickly leading by double digits. However, multiple turnovers from Edison and hustle plays from Toledo cut that lead down to 4 going into the halftime break. The Lady Indians continue to up their pressure and did force multiple turnovers by the Pioneers; but that just wasn’t enough. Edison had back to back buckets with the foul plays from Jackson and Humphries and went on to claim the victory.
The game high scorer and MVP was Rickea Jackson with 28 points. Leading scorer for Waite was Latriece Williams with 19 points.
Game and Team Highlights
Toledo Waite:
The Lady Indians are going to continue to struggle if they are not patient on offensive and true students of the game. Often their coach’s instructions went unheard and unexecuted.
Latriece Williams is a pretty solid player, however she needs help rebounding and defending the post. She can’t stop everyone by herself.
Turnovers really made this game harder for Waite than it had to be. Remaining focused and disciplined throughout the game is important.
Detroit Edison:
Jackson will continue to draw double teams. The other Edison players have to be ready to step up when they are called upon.
Playing solid defense without committing tons of fouls will really help the Pioneers. They need to focus on moving their feet and not reaching.
If Coach Brown gets one or two more pieces to her puzzle, look for Edison to be very competitive in their class.
