In the day 2 opener of the Motor City Roundball Classic, the Blissfield Lady Royals face off against the Knights of Grosse Pointe Woods Liggett. The game started of slow as both teams struggled to find their rhythm. By halftime, Blissfield had a five point lead and maintained their momentum throughout the majority of the second half. In the middle of the 4th quarter, the Knights would click into high gear and go on a huge offensive run. They would eventually cut a 12 point deficit down to a 6 point deficit. With 2 minutes remaining in the game, seemed to be gaining the momentum of the game, but the Lady Royals stood tall and got the victory. The Lady Royals are still undefeated.
Leading the way for Blissfield and game MVP was Brooke Henning with 20 points. High scorers for Liggett were Nia Ahart with 18 points and Kendall McConico with 16 points.
Game and Team Highlights
Blissfield:

Closing out games strong is crucial. The Lady Royals would have given the game away by relaxing in the 4th quarter if Liggett had found their spark.

More than one person needs to be able to handle the ball in order for the team to be a true offensive threat.

Blissfield must learn to make better decisions in the clutch to avoid giving the other team a chance to come back.
Grosse Pointe Liggett:

Scoring consistently seems to be a problem for Liggett. This will hurt them come tournament time.

The Knights being mentally tough is going to be key for their success. Playing through adversity builds champions.

Liggett did well from the free throw line in the clutch. That showed a lot of heart and great focus.
