The Chargers are considered by many to be the favorite to win the State Championship in Class A this year.  This group provided a stern test in last year’s playoff to the eventual champion Birmingham Marian.  They return 4 starters who all will be playing Division 1 Basketball next year.  Antoinette Miller is a handful for opponents and is electric in the open court.  Taiye Bello is a force in the paint on both ends of the court and there may not be a better junior in the State than Deja Church. Kehinde Bello should be a defensive and rebounding force this year and Coach Marshall has the championship pedigree to close the deal this year.  Lathrup will be tested this year as Coach Marshall has sought out opportunities to play against some of the best non-conference opponents in Michigan.  This will be an exciting group to watch and opponents will have to bring their “A” game. A traditional power year after year, Lathrup is in its final year of existence as they will merge with Southfield High School next fall. With this extra incentive, the infamous “Hoop Squad” will be relentless in their pursuit of a second state championship before the doors close on this tradition rich program.
