LBI Quick Hitter: Hill Road Fall League Recap Week 2

Flint, MI - A solid group of upperclassmen stood out this past Sunday at the Hill Road Hoops Fall League, which featured some great action throughout the day. Midland, Flushing and Carmen-Ainsworth will be a few teams in the Mid-Michigan area to watch out for.

Marissa Brady 2018 6’2” Post Waterford Kettering HS
Brady didn’t do much on the offensive end of the floor and she has a long way to go before she becomes a force in the paint. However, the long athletic post continuously ran the floor even if she wasn’t getting any transition passes, and she used her length on the defensive end to block or alter shots. With more game action, Brady will continue to improve on both ends of the floor, which could make her a legitimate prospect.

McKenna Walker 2018 5’9” Wing Guard Bay City Western HS
McKenna had a good showing on Sunday morning in both fall league games. Walker was deadly from deep as she made over 9 three point shots on the day. She has a beautiful release and gets her shot off quickly. When she wasn’t pulling the trigger from the perimeter, Walker was attacking off the dribble and finishing through contact or drawing fouls.  When at the line, she would calmly step up and knock down her free throws. She will be one of the top scorers this year in the Saginaw Valley Conference.

Molly Davis 2019 5’6” Point Guard Midland Dow HS
Davis was poised as she faced constant pressure while handling the ball. She got her teammates involved when she was pushing the ball in transition. Davis showed her ability to go both ways with the ball in her hands as she effectively finished with either hand.  When she wasn’t distributing or finishing, Molly was  knocking down the perimeter shot; she shot at an impressive high percentage.

Moria Joiner 2019 5’8” Wing Guard Saginaw Heritage HS
While her team was playing shorthanded on Sunday, and without any true post players, Joiner stepped up and took her game to another level showing how versatile she is. She was active on the court displaying her ability to make plays for others or herself as she played on or off the ball. Joiner made some nice moves off the dribble that resulted in knocking down mid-range and baseline jumpers. She has a solid handle where she can go right or left and finish on either side equally. In what is emerging as a very good 2019 class, Joiner is already a Top 5 player.

Rhozane Wells 2017 5’5” Point Guard Arbor Prep HS
Rozhane had two solid games this morning. Though slight in frame, she is big in heart and was really tough on defense and in attack mode on offense. Her speed and quickness allows her to pressure full court to hound her opponents. She also used that same speed and quickness to get passed defenders to finish at the basket or drop off a nice pass.

Lillia Schoof 2017 6’ Post Waterford Kettering HS
Lillia showed that she's a super athletic wing that drives to the basket hard and can finish with both hands. She plays the game with a very high IQ. Lillia is also a strong defender and rebounder. She was a handful for her opponents today.

Skylar Howard 2017 6’ Post Midland HS
Skylar was impressive all day from her post position. Skylar showed off a number of post moves going right or left, she showed off her soft touch that extends to 17 feet and the most impressive part of her game is that she runs the floor really well. She also showed that she could defend multiple positions.

Alex Vansumeren 2017 5’7” Wing Guard Midland HS
Alex showed that she has a deadly shot from the three point line, knocking down multiple threes in both games today. She also showed that she has the ability to be creative off the dribble, accompanied by a couple of nice floaters to the basket.

Sadie DeWildt 2017 5’7” Point Guard Midland HS
Sadie was very good with the ball in her hands. She ran her team very well, setting up teammates for open shots, and making opponents pay for leaving her open as she knocked down multiple threes in both games today. DeWildt was on a true point guard today.
