2015 Girls High School Fall League kicked off this week at the MVP Sports Complex

Grand Rapids, MI: Grand Rapids Storm Basketball presents its 2015 Girls High School Fall League kicked off this week at the MVP Sports Complex in Grand Rapids. The 12 teams participating feature several of the area's top players and it’s obvious that these girls are excited about getting back into the gym.

Team List:

Byron Center               Forest Hills Northern

South Christian            Forest Hills Central

Wayland Union           Forest Hills Eastern

GR Christian                East Grand Rapids

Rockford                      Middleville TK

Northview                    Grandville

The most impressive team I saw, hands down, was Grand Rapids Christian! Simply put, this team is loaded from top to bottom.  You heard it here first! Grand Rapids Christian is one of my preseason picks to make it all the way to the Breslin. Key returners, Jocelyn Taylor '16, Arnetta Abbey '16, Sydney Muller '16, Heaven Jobe '16, are a force to reckon with. Key additions, Mariah McCully '16, Edecia Beck '18, Leah Singleton '17, all add to the arsenal of existing talent. Watch out for a fast paced, high octane offense, and pressure packed defense.

Most improved team I saw was East Grand Rapids. I would consider this team one of my dark horse teams to make some noise this season. Key returners to lead the way are Onika Barkley '16 and Mickey Ivy '18.  Key addition to that dynamic duo is Grand Rapid Catholic Central transfer Megan Belke '16.  This teams is young, athletic, and well coached!  Watch out!

Some of the individual players that stood out this week:

Jen Deboer 2016 of Grand Rapids South Christian HS displayed great outside shooting while commanding the court as a tested floor general. Jen has a high basketball IQ.

Maddie Watters 2017 of Rockford HS continues to amaze me! She is a wizard with the basketball and consistently makes impressive plays from the PG position. She has size, quickness and an all- around game as a compliment.

Kaleese Jefferies 2016 Forest Hills Eastern HS is a natural shooting guard with good ball handling skills.

Edecia Beck 2018 Grand Rapids Christian HS can legitimately play 3 out of the 5 positions on the floor. She can shoot, handle the rock, rebound, score in the post, and block shots.

This is a 6 week league and teams play 2 games a week.

The league Final Four will take place on Tuesday October 27th
