The Player Behind The Game Spotlight: Jalisha Terry

One of the most exciting players to watch in the 2016 class is Flint’s own Jalisha Terry. The 5’7” combo guard has done a very good job of leaving her mark in the state of Michigan, especially in the Class C division. During last season’s state tournament, Terry had her coming out party and was a force of nature on both ends of the court. After that spectacular performance, the college offers started rolling in. From hours of work  in the gym, to her daily 3 mile run, Jalisha works very hard to ensure that when its game time, she is ready to go to battle. The talented rising senior has earned herself the honors of being LBI’s first “The Player Behind The Game” spotlight honoree.

Current High School: Mott Middle College, Flint, MI (Plays for Flint Hamady due to Mott Middle College not having a sports teams)

What college/university have you committed to?: St. Bonaventure University (SBU)

What will you major in?: Accounting

Why did you choose this school?:  My visit was really nice. The coaching staff and location was very appealing to me. Also, my parents were very supportive of why I wanted to go to St. Bonaventure and they really liked the school, too.

What other offers did you receive?:  Mostly MAC and in state schools; Central Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University, University of Detroit-Mercy, Northwood University and Niagara University.

When you’re not playing basketball, what do you like to do in your spare time?:  Mostly shopping and I like drawing.

What will you miss the most about high school and high school basketball?: I will miss the cool environment and the great relationships I have with teachers and classmates. I will definitely miss my basketball coach and goofy teammates and everything we were able to accomplish throughout my high school career.

What are you looking forward to about college and playing on the next level?: Having success and making history at SBU, meeting new people and receiving my degree.

Who would you like to thank for helping you achieve all that you’ve accomplished?: My parents for all of their support and sacrifice, my high school and travel team coaches, and my trainers.

What advice would you like to give to other lady ballers about basketball and selecting a college/university?:  Always keep working on your game. Never get comfortable with where you are. Choose the school that you know you can make a difference at and will support you both athletically and academically.

The LBI Staff would like to wish Jalisha Terry the best of luck in the 2015-16 basketball season and on her new journey of being a St. Bonaventure Lady Bona Wolf. Keep working hard and making Michigan proud!
