Ames, IA – Day 2 of the Simply the Best tournament was filled with some top performances from some of the Midwest best young talented players.
Sam Shepard 2018 5’11” Wing All Iowa Attack 9th
Sam is a versatile forward that was very efficient at scoring during the day. She has a soft touch, can put it on the floor that was attacking from the wing or the high post. A good athlete that shows tenacity on the defensive end and in the rebounding game.
Elle Brown 2017 5’11” Wing All Iowa Attack 15U
She was one of the top standouts on day 2. She’s an athletic wing that can score in transition or off the dribble in the half court. Brown made several mid range jumpers keeping her defender when they played off of her, she’s also is a good perimeter defender and rebounder.
Monika Czinano 2018 6’3” Minnesota Fury Blue
Big body post that moves well without the ball that did a lot of damage on the low block. Monika showed good hands, footwork and a soft touch on scoring on either side of the rim and is a very good passer from the high post where she made several good entry passes for easy scoring opportunities. Defensively she gets good position that will contest every shot making it very difficult for her opponent to get easy looks.
Kamaria McDaniel 2017 5’9” Wing Michigan Crossover 15U
After a solid day 1 performance, McDaniel came out Tuesday where she left off. She made several big shots and made several key assists in helping the Michigan Crossover to a double overtime victory over All Iowa Attack. Throughout the day she shot it well from 3-point range and made some nice moves off the dribble where she finished through contact or drew a foul. She was solid on the defensive end of the floor but she needs to be aggressive getting rebounds out of her zone.
