Benna Ames & Katelyn Brownlee was standouts at the Drive Classic

Allendale, MI - Several of the area's travel programs came out to Grand Valley State University to compete in the Drive Classic. This is the second year of this tournament and it is hosted by the West Michigan Drive. Lots of talented players from all over Michigan came out to display their talents for the several college coaches that attended the event. Some of the players that stood out are listed below.

Player Highlights

Benna Ames  2016  6'3"   Center  Michigan Sting Elite
Ames is lengthy and very active around the basket. She was a force in the middle, altering shots, rebounding the basketball and  consistently knocked down mid range shots and ran the floor extremely well. Benna will definitely be one to watch in July.

Katlyn Brownlee   2017  5'7" PG   Michigan Sting Elite
Brownlee was one of the most dynamic players I saw during this event. She's an excellent ball handler, has a high basketball IQ and is lighting quick. She was able to get into the lane at will and finish her shot or give a no look pass to a teammate. Katlyn can defend both guard positions and has great court vision.

Nastassja Chambers  2016   5'9"  Guard  Michigan Sting Elite
Chambers can do it all.  She plays tenacious defense and is probably one of the most athletic players in the 2016 class. Chambers was able to get to the rim at will and finish with either hand. She is also able to hit the floater and mid range jumper and has improved shooting the three ball as well.

Reiko Johnson  2017  5'5"  PG  West Michigan Drive 15u
Johnson is lighting quick, has excellent ball handling and is a tough, gritty guard that can penetrate and get to the rim. She can shoot the three, midrange and floater with consistency. Reiko has great feel for the game and is an excellent defender. She can arguably be one of the most underrated players in the 2017 class.

Anna LoMonaco  2018  6'1"  Forward  Michigan Rage
LoMonaco has a non stop motor that allows her to rebound, block shots, defend, and finish with either hand. She can also catch the ball at the free throw line and turn and face up or get to the basket. Anna's outside shot continues to improve but she is definitely an up and coming prospect that we will be keeping our eyes on in July.

Ro'zhane Wells  2017  5'7" Guard  Michigan Sting 15u
Wells is a good ball handler, great on the ball defender, extremely quick and knows how to finish when she gets to the rim. Ro'zhane has great court vision and passes extremely well. Wells continues to improve her outside shooting and will definitely be working hard during the July travel season to earn herself some collegiate looks.
