Gym Rats Invitational was loaded with talented players

Ft. Wayne, IN - The Indy Lady Gym Rats annual  Gym Rats Invitational ended today with more exciting basketball. The bracket play brought out the best in the players that were there and  cheers and roars  from on-lookers could be heard throughout the day. Congrats to the Gym Rats on a very successful event and for winning the 16u Elite Division championship.

Player Highlights

Alexandria Fanning 2018  6' 0" Post  Chicago Hoops Express II
Fanning has a solid build that she uses as resource on the court. She has great foot work and post moves which allows her to get herself open and also draw contact.

Karissa McLaughlin  2017  5' 8" Guard Gym Rats-Silver (EYBL)
A shooter that plays with intensity are just few words to describe McLaughlin. Her shot rotation is poetry in motion and she seems to shoot better when the pressure of the game is up. She was a key contributor to her team's division championship.

Jayla Scaife  2016  5' 11" Forward Gym Rats-Silver (EYBL)
Scaife is the whatever whenever player on her team. Whatever role she needs to play for them to win she will do. She plays great help defense, can lead the break in transition and can also knock down shots from the perimeter.

Alexis Sevillian (Iowa)  2016 5' 7" Guard  Michigan Crossover EYBL
Sevillian has always been a tough player that doesn't mind playing physical. This weekend she showed that not only is physical toughness a part of her game but so is mental toughness. Her smart play lead to her knocking down a huge three pointer that sent her team to the semifinals.

Alicia Smith  2017  6'3"  Post  Michigan Crossover 15U
Smith is quickly developing into one of the top post players in the state of Michigan. This weekend she made strong defensive stops and finished strong with contact around the rim. She's also been working on her free throws, knocking down the majority of her shots from the line.

Marlee Kyles  2017  5' 7"  PG  Mac Irvin Fire-Black
Unstoppable, uncheckable and any other "un" word describes Kyles play this weekend. She has the ability to maneuver between multiple defenders and either get and easy shot, or the ball to an open teammate. She's quick and can handle contact which makes her a great defensive player.

Savannah Altman  2017  6' 1" Post  Mac Irvin Fire-Black
Altman is a true post player that can run the floor well and contribute on both ends of the court. She is very strong in the post with her back to the basket. She has the post moves to get herself open.

Elyse Zimmerman  2016  5'7"  PG  MBA Select 16U
Zimmerman put her floor leadership and toughness on the court for everyone to see this weekend. She has a style of play that is tough, efficient, and skillful. She can handle the ball under pressure, shoot the jump shot or get in the lane and score around the rim.

DeAuja Thompson  2016  6'1"  Forward  All Ohio Black
A versatile post forward is not easy to find but Thompson is just that. She has long arms and quick feet that make her a serious threat on the block, however she can put the ball on the floor and take someone of the dribble as well. Due to her length and quickness she is either faster or taller than the person defending her.

Deja Church  2017  5'8"  Guard  Michigan Crossover
Church showed that she's been in the gym working on her game at the Gym Rat Invitational. Known for being an aggressive offensive player, getting to the paint off the dribble as much as possible, Church showcased some new moves. She was able to knock down her jump shot, see the floor to make great passes and also lead her team at point guard. If she keeps working, she will be a player with many poisons and a nightmare to play against.
