Jordan Walker had a solid day at the MGBR Hoop Summit

Grand Rapids, MI – MGBR’s Hoop Summit  brought many college coaches and travel teams to several gym’s in West Michigan today.  The day was filled with some great match-ups played by some of  west Michigan top players.

Player Highlights

Jordan Walker  2017  5’7”  PG  Michigan Patriots
Jordan, like her older sister Jasmine is a stud on defense.  She consistently draws out the opposing team's best player.  Extremely athletic and active on the boards for a guard, she has great court vision which allowed her to find her teammates when driving lanes closed up.  Jordan showed today that she can simply get to the basket whenever she wants to.  Throughout the day regardless of her competition or whether her team was up or down her demeanor remained calm and she was able lead her team to an undefeated 3-0 record on the day.

Anna Lomonico  2017  6’2”  Post  The Rage
Lomonico controlled the paint and was very active deflecting shots and grabbing boards.   She ran the floor extremely well and used her athletic size and wing span to cause problems for her opponents.

Samantha Guerls  2018  5’9”  Guard  The Rage
Guerls is a gritty, strong, tough combo guard who has a motor that doesn’t quit.  She does all of the dirty work like diving for loose balls, tie ups, helping on defense, and multiple put backs. She definitely sets the tone for a young talented team. I like to refer to her as the hardest working player in West Michigan.

Gracie Cabana  2017  5’7” PG  Michigan Elite South
Ms. Cabana was very impressive today. A very tough, strong and aggressive point guard that has a nice handle under pressure and was able to play under control.  She finishes well in traffic and has a solid perimeter game.  Defensively she was stout and I was impressed by her lateral movement and all around traditional point guard in every sense of the word. This young lady has a bright future ahead of her.

Shaina DenBesten  2016  5’11” Post  Grand Rapids Storm
DenBesten is an absolute monster on the blocks. She used her athleticism and strength to score in the paint and her length to shoot and score over her defenders. DenBesten’s versatility allows her to guard 4 positions extremely well. She has a nonstop motor and was the most active player on the boards in every game she played in today.

Jocelyn Taylor  2016  5’11”  Wing  Grand Rapids Storm
Jocelyn is probably the most versatile player I saw all day.  She can handle the rock, shoot the three, has a wicked post game, can hit the midrange jumper and the list goes on and on.  She was able to get easy transition layups by simply running the floor. Jocelyn rebounded the ball on both ends of the floor and did a great job of out hustling her opponents.

Alexis Hill 2017 5’10 PG Lady Sparks
Extremely quick and agile for her size, Alexis has the wingspan and reach to give her opponents problems all through the game.  Ms. Hill was very efficient today. She can shoot the rock , has a nice handle and is only a sophomore.  Ms. Hill game is very impressive.

Arnetta Abbey 2016 5’9 Wing Pure Basketball
A lefty with a sweet stroke, Ms. Abbey has a deceptively quick first step and is able to knock down the mid range shot consistently.  She works hard on defense and rebounds the basketball exceptionally well.  Ms. Abbey's versatility allows her to guard different positions on the floor very well.
