Flint, MI - This weekend the Michigan Mystics hosted a 14U-16/17U tournament that featured over 70 teams from the Michigan and Ohio. This tournament was one of the biggest so far this season with over14 courts stretched across 23 South/North. The Michigan Crossover, Storm, Cagers, Finest and of course the host team the Mystics were just a few of the teams battling today.

Deja Church 2017 5’9” Guard Michigan Crossover 15U

Church looks to be close to 100% after suffering a minor ankle sprain a few weeks ago. She was very explosive getting to the rim and knocking down her perimeter shots when her defender gave her space.

Reiko Johnson 2017 5’5” PG West Michigan Drive 15U

Johnson is at her best and shows her quickness and speed in the open floor when the tempo of the game was at its fastest. Johnson took advantage of defenders by getting inside the paint for layups or floaters. She understands her role as a point guard and looks for others every time down the floor.

Lexy Tobel  2017 5’10” Wing Michigan Cagers 15U

Tobel was all about her business in her game against the Michigan Crossover 15U. She made a couple of nice moves off the dribble to score over a very athletic frontline. She also did a great job of rebounding on both ends of the floor and drilled a couple of three pointers. Lexy showed that she has the ability to play against elite competition.

Sadie Dewildt 2017  5’7” PG Michigan Mystics 15U

Dewildt played like she belongs in the conversation as being one the best point guards in the 2017 class. She led her team to a nice victory over the Lady Titans in a pool play game. She pumped in a game high 30 points, as she shot the ball from the perimeter very well and handled the ball without having many turnovers.

Courtney Sharland 2019 6’0” Post Michigan’s Finest 13U

Sharland does exactly what her team needs her to do. She scored the ball with her back to the basket, rebounded and set numerous screens to set up her teammates for easy drives. Sharland also made some good passes from the post to open shooters. This young talent played very big and has great potential.
