Class B and C State Championship Game Preview
Saturday, March 21
Breslin Center, East Lansing
Class C
Flint Hamady Vs Calumet 4:00pm
Flint Hamady’s defensive pressure along with its balanced offensive attack will be way to over bearing for Calumet. This will be a pressure that Calumet has never seen. There is no way possible for them to prepare for this game with only one day of practice.
Keys to victory
Hamady
It’s simple for Hamady. Play Hamady basketball- Defend, rebound, and run. Calumet will not be able to keep up.
Calumet
They have to slow the ball down and force Hamady to play their type of basketball. Calumet must also knock down shots and win the rebounding battle or the game will get away from them quickly.
Class B
Haslett Vs Country Day 6:00pm
These two teams met in the regular season, ending with Country Day winning by 14. I don’t think that will be the case today. Both teams won by great margins yesterday and are very hungry for the state championship. Haslett’s 1-3-1 defense will give Country Day some trouble and slow the down the shooting exhibition they put on in the semi-finals. However, the Yellow Jackets quick defense will force Haslett to shoot the ball well from the outside. In the end, Country Day has more offensive weapons and will over power Haslett. They will win the Class B state championship by 6+ points.
Keys to victory
Haslett
They must keep a hand in the face of Destiny Pitts. If they allow her to get hot, it will be nearly impossible to cool her off. Haslett must also stay out of foul trouble. Country Day shoots well from the free throw line.
Country Day
They have to be patient on offense and not force up shots. Haslett is great at getting the defensive rebound and beating their opponents up the floor. It will also be crucial for Country Day’s inside players to stay out of foul trouble and help rebound.
