Jaela Richardson
5'10" Wing Forward
Class of 2018

Saginaw Hertitage High School

Back in December of 2014, I read a great MLIVE column about Jaela Richardson, daughter of NBA veteran Jason Richardson. (“Jason Richardson’s Daughter Makes Her Own Name as Freshman Starter” MLive, December 13, 2014, Hugh Bernreuter)  There was a quote for Jaela that really stuck with me…“It’s my job to prove my name, not my dad’s name. I’m making my own name.”  Averaging just over 8 points and roughly 8 rebounds per game as a starting freshman on a very talented Saginaw Heritage team not only shows that this young talent is on track to do just that, but that she is a person of her word.

Scouting Report:

Jaela is a long athletic forward that has a very big upside. She rebounds out of her area and can finish well around the rim. Good lateral movement allows her to get out on the wing and defend smaller guards. Jaela’s unruffled demeanor helped her team win a very physical and emotional regional championship game vs. Flushing last Thursday.

Jaela is a very dedicated player and it shows every game that she plays. Her performance is getting better and better and her game is maturing very rapidly. We will be following her prep career closely during her high school season and local and national travel with the Michigan Storm.
