Detroit, MI: The Summer Sweet 16 was not short of top teams or top players. Teams use June to work on chemistry and develop their rotation, but some of the teams look to be in regular season form already. Detroit Mercy was the location, and some of the players took full advantage of playing on a D1 campus. Here are a few that caught my eye all day!

Vanessa Rodriguez 2026 Guard FGR
Vanessa, the WMU Commit, is a dynamic guard who consistently stretches defenses with deep shooting range and a quick release. She’s equally effective off the bounce, creating scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates. Her poise, vision, and ability to make plays under pressure make her a true leader on the floor.

Ava Rodriguez 2026 Guard FGR
Ava, the WMU commit, is a steady, reliable big-time guard who consistently knocks down shots from deep and thrives on making the little plays that don’t always show up on the stat sheet. Whether it’s taking a charge, diving for a loose ball, or making the extra pass, she does whatever it takes to help her team win. A true competitor and baller!

JaeBri’an Autry 2026 Wing Detroit Renaissance
JaeBri’an is a long, athletic wing with elite quickness and a relentless motor. She excels in transition, using her speed and length to beat defenders down the floor and finish at the rim. She plays downhill with purpose, consistently attacking the basket and putting pressure on the defense. Her ability to change speeds and directions makes her tough to contain in the open court. Defensively, she covers ground quickly and disrupts passing lanes with her length. Autry brings energy on both ends and has the tools to impact the game at a high level.

Kassidy Cain 2028 Guard Detroit Renaissance
Kassidy is a smart, crafty guard who plays with great pace and control. She has a smooth handle and the ability to break down defenders off the dribble, creating quality looks for herself and her teammates. She runs the show with confidence, reads the floor well, and makes smart decisions in pressure situations. Her ability to knock down the jump shot keeps defenders honest, making her a constant offensive threat. A true floor general who makes everyone around her better.

Kamaria Lowe 2026 Post Detroit Edison
Kamaria is an aggressive, physical forward who brings toughness and intensity to the paint. She finishes through contact, scores effectively around the basket, and consistently battles for position inside. Defensively, she holds her ground, protects the lane, and rebounds with purpose. Her physical presence and willingness to do the dirty work make her a key piece on both ends of the floor.

Morgan Smith 2026 Guard Wayne Memorial
Morgan is a confident shooter with deep range and the ability to create her own shot off the dribble. She has a quick release, reads defenders well, and knows how to find her spots. On the defensive end, she brings intensity and energy, taking pride in locking down her assignment. Her two-way impact makes her a valuable asset on a very good Wayne squad.

Kaylee King 2026 Post Wayne Memorial
Kaylee is an impressive post player with great footwork, mobility, and a soft touch around the basket. She moves exceptionally well, runs the floor hard, and creates scoring opportunities with her positioning and feel for the game. Whether finishing with either hand or facing up, she’s a reliable option in the paint and continues to elevate her impact on both ends of the floor.

Layla Blumberg 2028 Guard Dexter
Layla is a poised guard who played extremely well off the bounce, confidently creating offense. She consistently knocked down the three, keeping defenders off balance, and attacked the lane with purpose. Her ability to score while leading her team vocally and by example made her a true floor general and difference-maker throughout the day.

Addy Wylie 2027 Guard Dexter
Addy is an under-the-radar wing who turned heads with her physical play and shot-making ability. She competed on both ends, embraced contact, and knocked down shots with confidence. Her effort, toughness, and emerging offensive game suggest she’s poised for a breakout season and is definitely one to watch moving forward.

Sydney Savoury 2027 Guard Belleville
Sydney is a dominant guard who impacts the game in every facet, scoring, facilitating, defending, and leading. There’s not much left to say about her skill set that hasn’t already been said. She plays with poise, confidence, and a high-level understanding of the game. Her recent recognition as a 5-star prospect is well-deserved and a reflection of the work she’s put in. A true game-changer every time she steps on the floor.

Se’Crette Carter 2026 Guard Belleville
Se’Crette, the Marquette Commit, is a lights-out shooter with deep range and a quick, confident release. She’s not just a spot-up threat—she’s shown she has some real wiggle off the bounce, creating space and knocking down tough shots. One of the best pure shooters in the state, she constantly stretches defenses and brings instant offense every time she touches the ball.

Alesia is a do it all, positionless player with a smooth game and a natural feel for making plays. She scores at all three levels—finishing through contact inside and knocking down shots from the perimeter while also creating for others with great vision and decision-making. Her versatility allows her to impact the game in so many ways, making her one of the most complete players in her class
