Ann Arbor, MI: LBI April Showers is here, which means AAU is underway. Several top teams and players competed and built chemistry to prepare for the Spring season. Here are a few day one players who caught my eye!!!
Erin Thomas 2028 Guard Sports City Angels
Erin is a big guard who does a great job handling the ball, playing downhill, attacking the hoop, and finishing through contact. She plays the game well beyond her years and shows great versatility on both ends of the floor.
Kamrah Banks 2026 Guard Always 100 Elite 3SSB
Kamrah was a straight bucket today. She scored from deep and off the bounce, and she was pretty much impossible to contain. She was really shifty with the rock, and Banks did a great job getting in the lane and making plays. She is a big-time addition to the Always 100 squad.
Elizabeth Schafer 2026 Wing Capitol City Express
Elizabeth showed nice versatility today, slashing to the hoop, taking the contact, and still scoring or drawing the foul. She shot it well from deep and played with an extremely high motor.
Layla Stewart 2027 Guard Michigan Crossover EYBL
Layla is back. After missing a full season due to injury, it didn’t take Stewart long to remind us how well she scores the ball from all over the floor. After a few breakaway layups, Layla hit some threes from deep and scored off the bounce. I’m sure opponents don’t want to hear it, but it looks like she is back and ready to pick up where she left off!
Aubree Allen 2026 Forward Michigan Premier S40
Rebounding, passing, scoring in the paint, hitting the three, and playing tough defense. All those things describe what Allen brings to the table with a guard-loaded roster. If her improvement over the last few years is any indication of what’s ahead for Allen, then coaches, you better lock in because she is improving each time out.
Sheridan Beal 2026 Guard Michigan Storm GUAA
Sheridan was in attack mode all day today. She scored it from deep, hit the middy, and attacked off the bounce, finishing at the hoop. Sheridan is easily one of the best bucket getters in the state, and today, she did nothing to dispute that.
Reese Lape 2027 Wing Michigan Mystics Cole
Reese plays the game with a high motor and an ability to dominate inside and out. She has a nice handle and can beat her defender off the bounce. She can shoot it and finishes in the lane. Reese plays aggressively on both ends of the floor, taking pride in going after every loose ball and rebound.
Kate Higgins 2026 Wing Michigan Drive 17U P24
Kate is a handful all over the floor. She is always one of the most physical players in the game but she mixes in a nice handle a soft touch and the ability to get her shot off the dribble to dominate the game. Higgins, the recently Northwood commit, looks like she is set for a big AAU season.
Janaya Cooper 2028 Wing Always 100 Elite 3SSB
Janaya is one of the best players in Indiana regardless of class. She is a force on both ends of the floor physically and athletically, scoring the ball, dropping a dime, blocking a shot, or rebounding the basketball. Janaya is the real deal, and she is just getting started.
NaRiya Goddard 2028 Guard Sports City Angels
NaRiya started the day off by hitting a big three to send the game to OT, and she didn’t stop there. Aggressive all day off the bounce NaRiya made plays in transition and in the flow of the offense using her quickness and advanced skill set to make plays.
