Grand Rapids, MI: The Annual Drive To The Hoop Classic occurred this past weekend in Grand Rapids. Over 250 teams participated in the top middle school event in the Midwest. The talent level was high, and some future stars were on display. Here are some prospects that caught the eye of the LBI Staff.
McKenzie White 2029 Post Always 100
Strong post player that is tough to handle on the block. White has solid footwork, good hands, and a soft touch in the paint. A very active rebounder who doesn’t mind running the floor and filling the lanes.
Cassy Coit 2031 Guard Michigan Storm Future 13U
A long wing that operates well in traffic and excels in the transition phase. She does a good job rebounding on both ends. Coit showed reasonable defensive anticipation on the help side, jumping passing lanes and getting multiple deflections.
Lindy Shine 2030 PG MBA Future
Tough point guard with a good understanding of the game. Plays aggressive with the ball in her hands. She showed she could get it done beyond the arc and attack the paint, finishing or creating an easy bucket for her teammates.
London Spencer 2030 Guard MBA Future
Skilled wing with good length and tons of athleticism. She creates off the bounce and finishes with the best of them. She showed she could stick the long ball and the mid-range jump shot. She has a chance to be a special recruit in a couple of years.
Brielle Brown 2031 Guard Michigan Crossover Bellamy
Strong lead guard with a good handle, a quick first step, and very explosive when attacking the hoop. She had multiple old-fashioned three-point plays. Brown is a good perimeter defender who showed she can guard the smaller and bigger guards.
Tenley Neal 2029 Point Guard Wisconsin Lakers UA Future 14U
Crafty guard that plays hard on both ends of the floor. At her best when attacking off the dribble, she always seems to find a way to finish amongst the bigs. Very good on ball defender that applies lots of pressure to opposing guards.
Taryn Roberts 2029 Forward Michigan Mystics Select 14U
Skilled forward that can score it both inside and out. Knocked down the three ball and finished in the paint with contact. She has some bounce and showed good footwork on the block. Natural shot blocker that alters lots of shots.
Siniyah Sanders 2031 Guard West Michigan Drive 14U Copeland
Young guard who playing for two years. Sanders some wiggle and is very good off the dribble. Sanders is aggressive and welcomes the contact. Showed good court vision, a good handle, and making an impact despite the age difference.
Nyla Bell 2029 Post Michigan Storm UA Future
A good sized post that runs the floor and finishes in transition, Bell has a soft touch in the paint and is a good rebounder who keeps it high. She is an active post defender, making it difficult for opposing posts to establish a position. She showed she could handle an open floor when needed. She has a huge upside.
OJ Rytlewski 2029 Wing Michigan Mystics Select 14U
One of the most explosive players in the gym. Scores the ball on all three levels. Long, athletic wing that excels in transition. Finishes in traffic with either hand, knocks down the three ball and can guard 1-4.
