Belleville, MI: The Best of Michigan Holiday Classic was loaded with talent! This event has become the top Holiday showcase in the Midwest and is on its way to becoming the top event in the country. Here are some impact players that caught my eye.
Mila Bissett 2028 5’4” Point Guard St. Mary’s of Lancaster (NY)
This freshman point guard is mature beyond her years when it comes to hoops. St. Mary's was very poised and confident, and she faced one of Michigan’s top programs, and she was amazing. She plays hard at all times, and her offensive skill set is at the next level. At 5’4", playing amongst the bigs, she uses pivots and pump fakes as well as any guard I have seen.
Rihanna Young 2027 5’6” Guard Detroit Edison
Young is an aggressive guard who takes no plays off and constantly keeps opponents on their heels. She showed a good three-ball and a mid-range game, but she was at her best going downhill and attacking. She is part of a trio of 2027 players who prove Edison doesn’t rebuild; they simply reload.
Skylar Wakefield 2027 5’11” Guard Bolingbrook (IL)
A talented wing that scores the rock any way you want it. It was a tough mid-range game to go along with the three ball, but she was most dangerous attacking from the wing. Wakefield doesn’t shy away from the contact and has no problem finishing after getting the foul.
Alesia Ode 2026 6’1” Forward Saginaw Heritage
Silky lefty with a good stroke who can really fill it up from deep. Ode did a good job playing the help side defensively. She had multiple deflections and steals working off the ball.
Layla Blumberg 2028 5’4” Point Guard Dexter
A solid point guard who did a great job running her team, Blumberg was very effective in all aspects of the game. She knocked down three balls, attacked the paint, created for her teammates, and locked down on defense.
Iyana Stephens 2025 6’ Post Belleville
Very physical forward that works hard on both ends. Stephens is that glue player that every team wishes they had. A strong rebounder and defender that plays through the contact.
Paisley Stephens 2028 5’11” Guard Belleville
Stephens is a young, talented guard who manages to stand out on a team with multiple older D1 prospects. She showed another layer to her game outside of being able to fill it up. Her ability to create for others is next level. She did a good job attacking the paint, drawing the double, and using her court vision to get easy buckets for her teammates.
Dynasti Bell 2027 6'3" Post Muskegon
Bell is a true post player who will continue to get better with more court time. She did a wonderful job against Belleville rim running, clogging the paint, altering shots, and rebounding. Dynasti is a prospect who will get a lot of attention from many college coaches.
