The David Barnes Showcase was loaded with young players and some proven players who came out to show us what they had next. The girls shared the ball and competed at a high level. Here are a few girls who stood out!!!
Samantha Fuhs 2027 Wing Dearborn Divine Child HS
Samantha looked good today, scoring the ball at a high level from all over. She got to the basket off the bounce and scored on multiple sweeping layups in traffic. Her biggest flex of the day was shooting the three. She used a quick release and good movement without the ball to find her spots and knock down the shot.
Kaylyn Sowers 2026 Guard Notre Dame Prep HS
Kaylyn plays with an excellent feel for the game. She plays well with or without the ball, slashing and cutting for baskets or finding a teammate for an easy bucket. She shoots it well from deep and rebounds the ball with consistency. Kaylyn played well all day.
Damaya Hartwick 2025 PG Grand Blanc HS
Super sweet with the handle, electric off the bounce with dimes all over the floor. That is just a small description of the afternoon Damaya had today. She was all over the floor making plays offensively and defensively, turning heads with tough finishes in traffic or splitting the seam for a no-look assist. Big time day for Hartwick!
Harper Backus 2027 Post Saline HS
Harper impressed all day with her ability to stand out in a guard-dominant showcase. She rebounded the ball at a high clip and was a force in the paint, scoring with nice footwork and a nice touch. Playing very loose and free, she got up some threes (good-looking form) and even put the ball on the floor, creating off the bounce. I know I am on repeat whenever I talk about Harper, but her improvement every time out is very noticeable.
Hannah Tamou 2025 Guard Sterling Heights Stevenson HS
Hannah just might have been the MVP of the day. She was dominant, scoring the ball, creating off the bounce, knocking down the Jump shot, and finishing with crafty moves around the hoop. Hannah was tough on both ends of the floor, causing havoc on defense, turning her defense into offense, and scoring in transition. It was a big-time performance from Hannah.
Alaynah Quinn 2026 Guard Fraser HS
Alaynah stood out today with solid guard play. She was steady at the point, making the right read off the bounce, scoring the ball, and making the right pass to a teammate for a basket. She was tough on both ends, pressuring the ball and jumping the passing lanes. Alaynah was one of the top players in the showcase.
Mackenzie Duthie 2026 Wing Howell HS
Mackenzie was a double-double machine today. She dominated the boards with her aggressive attacking style, hustling and physically grabbing boards and loose balls all over the floor. She scored in transition and in the paint and even hit a few threes from deep. Mackenzie is definitely one of my breakout players to watch this season.
Sophie Fox 2027 Wing Au-Gre-Sims HS
Sophie was steady all day. She shot it well from the outside, scored through traffic, and was a force on the boards. She was one of the more consistent scorers in the showcase.
Caroline Paluk 2027 Wing Farmington Hills Mercy HS
Caroline was one of the biggest surprises in the showcase. She showed an extremely high skill set, using a good mix of perimeter success and the ability to score in traffic through contact. She has nice size and plays with an excellent feel for the game. I look forward to Paluk having a breakout year for Mercy this season.
Selena Titus 2025 Guard Jenison HS
Selena is a tough, quick, crafty guard who plays with an extremely high motor and competes at a high level. She made plays all over the floor today, running the show on offense, making the right pass, and getting in the lane to create while causing havoc on defense with her pressure on the ball. Selena is going to have a big year for Jenison.
Olivia Gadson 2027 Guard Holt HS
Olivia plays the same in all settings: showcase, AAU, high school, and camp. It doesn’t matter. She is going to score the ball with ease and look effortless while doing it. A silky smooth guard with a nice handle and an ability to beat her girl off the bounce Olivia is on go all the time attacking the lane and scoring from all three levels. Olivia had a very good year last season for Holt, and this season is shaping up to be even better.
