Grand Rapids, MI: BCAM Reaching Higher was a huge success this past weekend. Teams from all over the state gathered to compete in front of coaches from all over the country. The talent level was elite, and the competition was stiff. A number of standouts showed very well and hopefully put themselves in a position to play at the net level. Here is part one of some of the players that caught my eye!!
Charlotte Miller 2025 Guard FGR
Charlotte was good at all aspects of the game this weekend. She shot it at a very elite level, handled the ball broke the pressure and ran the show making plays from the 1 through 4 positions. With her team playing with only five players she stood out with her exceptional play and leadership.
Paisley Stephens 2028 Guard Belleville
Welcome to high school, Paisley. She walked in with a bang. Knocking down multiple threes from the corner, running the floor, finishing in transition or pushing the ball up the floor, making the right pass igniting the break, Paisley was special. Paisley is the perfect addition to a loaded Belleville squad and looks to be on her way to be one of the next big time recruits in the state of Michigan.
Se’Crette Carter 2026 Guard Belleville
Se’crette is no secret anymore. Playing with a boat load of confidence Carter scored from all over the floor, knocking down triples, creating off the bounce and making plays in transition she was unstoppable. There were stretches in her games where she dominated offensively and defensively by jumping passing lanes and using her length to create turnovers, which led to offense. I expect her offer sheet to increase quite a bit this summer.
Sydney Savoury 2027 Wing Belleville
Sydney is the real deal. She has the full package in her bag, and she can score the ball any way you want. She shoots it from deep, she scores off the bounce and with her college build she punishes defenders by going through them for buckets. Sydney played and covered every position this weekend and was the best player in the building. Only a 2027 with a crazy work ethic, a dominant mental mindset and an elite skill set I dare to say Belleville has a future pro on their hands.
Elli Robak 2026 Guard Clarkston
Elli was aggressive all weekend. She showed a nice ability to create her shot off the bounce, making nice moves and finishing in traffic. Her shot fell from deep, which made it hard for her to be contained. Robak did a great job of competing on both ends of the floor.
Ella Morgner 2025 Wing Clarkston
Ella does a little bit of everything for her squad. She had impressive stretches like one where she forced a bad shot on defense, rebounded the ball pushed in transition made a nice pass and ended up getting the offensive rebound and put back for two. She is a highly skilled wing that showed her versatility throughout the day.
Tracy Thomas 2025 Post Cass Tech
Tracy had a great weekend on both ends of the floor. On offense she did a great job scoring in the paint, passing out of double teams but most impressively she was a deep threat knocking down multiple threes from way outside. On defense, she was the base for Cass’s tough pressure defense; she made it hard for post entries and dominated the interior.
CeCe Arico 2027 Guard Detroit Country Day
CeCe was dominant this weekend, playing the 1 through 5. She ran the show from the 1, jumped center defended all five positions and was a terror in transition attacking the defense. Arico was super effective beating her defender off the bounce and scoring with crafty finishes around the hoop, she also showed great IQ and court awareness by making the right read and play when the double and sometimes triple team came. CeCe had them buzzing on coach’s row!!
Jayla Jackson 2026 Guard Detroit Country Day
Jayla looked swift and quick this weekend. She already possesses a nice handle and ability to shake up defenders but this weekend she was beating them with a quick first step and then finishing at the hoop. Jayla has always been an elite bucket getter, and she looks to be getting back to that mindset this summer.
Kendall Cabana 2025 Guard Dexter
Kendell is super aggressive and relentless attacking the defense off the dribble or pulling up from the perimeter. She plays with an extremely high motor and a ton of confidence which is a great combination for a bucket getting guard. She is physical on both ends of the floor and is a magnet for rebounds and 50/50 balls.
Layla Blumberg 2028 Guard Dexter
Layla is going to be a problem the next four years and that problem has started as we speak. She is a super aggressive cat quick smart guard who already has a good feel for running a squad. She shoots it well from the outside and is fearless going to the hoop. She is in great hands with Coach T, and the sky is the limit for the youngest Blumberg.
Clare Conzelmann 2025 Guard Frankenmuth
If you were really paying attention, you noticed that Clare had just about as good of a weekend as anyone at reaching higher. She scored the ball at all three levels shooting the ball from deep with unlimited range and was smooth and effective slashing or getting to her spots off the dribble. Frankenmuth was one of my teams to watch coming out of Reaching Higher, and Clare is a huge reason for that.
Macy Donovan 2028 Guard Frankenmuth
Macy, an incoming Freshman, plays well beyond her years. Her court presence, her feel for the game and her advanced skill set has her not only ready to contribute but to be one of the best players on the floor. She can shoot it, handle it and does a great job playing with patience and poise playing in the flow of the offense. She rebounds well for a guard and works hard in Frankenmuth’s pressure defense.
Ella Place 2025 Guard Goodrich
Ella is a blur on the floor. Playing with a high motor she had success slashing to the hoop, making plays off the dribble or spotting up knocking down the open three. She is an experienced guard who will help this team win a number of games this season.
Kayla Hairston 2026 Guard Goodrich
Kayla has a lot to offer for a PG1 and she has a lot of go get it in her game. Weaving through the defense aggressively playing downhill looking to score or drop a dime. She is comfortable shooting the three but she is most effective getting in the lane and making plays. Defensively she plays with a ton of energy all which our great traits for a point guard.
Elisha Dykstra 2025 Guard Grand Rapids West Catholic
Elisha is a big guard and one of the most versatile players in her class. This weekend, she battled double and triple teams but still managed to score at a high level and make plays to set up her teammates. She rebounded the ball on both ends, usually leading the break off the board and creating offense. Elisha showed great strength and toughness finding a way to finish through grabs pulls and tugs. Dykstra is one of the top players in the state and will be in the conversation for Miss Basketball.
Maddy Benard 2025 Guard Gross Pointe South
Maddy has gotten her wiggle back. Once thought to be one of the best players in her class, Maddy Benard looks to be right back where she was before the injury and ready to make noise. Beating her defender repeatedly off the bounce with a smooth handle and deceptively quick first step, Maddy was back in her bag, scoring at all three levels. She is a high IQ guard who shines in either playmaking or scoring. I look for her to continue her big summer and continue climbing up the recruiting boards.
