LBI Event Recap: April Showers Classic "Part One" (Ypsilanti, MI)

Ypsilanti, MI: Day one of April Showers did not disappoint; there were close games, tough competition, and a lot of top talent in the building. Here is a sweet 16 of players who stood out during Saturdays action.

Maddie Moody 2025 Wing Legends U 17U P24 
Maddie was one of the top shooters in the gym today whether it from mid-range or beyond the arc, her shot was money all day. She has a smooth shot and showed excellent shot selection, allowing her to knock down shots throughout the game consistently. Her ability to shoot it with accuracy under pressure makes her a reliable scoring option and make her opponents have to respect her shooting ability, which opens up opportunities for teammates as well.

Liv Flynn 2025 Guard Michigan Mystics RUH
Liv is a super aggressive, big time scoring guard who attacked the hoop off the dribble and knocked down jumpers from deep. Liv plays the game with great energy and passion and seems to just keep getting better every time I see her play, I’M a fan!

Clare Conzelmann 2025 Guard Michigan Mystics RUH
Clare is a scorer. There is no other way to put it; she gets buckets!! Clare did a great job moving without the ball, finding her spots, and knocking down multiple triples on the day. Clare possesses nice size and length, and she did a great job jumping passing lanes and playing tough on the ball defense.

Lindsey Williams 2025 Forward Always 10017U 3SSB Lindsee played physical with great mobility, speed and strength. She did a great job catching and finishing through contact. She dominated the lane rebounding the ball offensively and defensively using a mix of physicality and finesse to establish position and defend the paint.

Addison Baxter 2025 Guard Always 100 17U 3SSB
Addison is a very skilled lead guard with a nice handle, great vision, and a sweet stroke. She did a great job attacking the basket off the bounce and setting up her teammates for easy baskets. She also did a great job on defense, taking on the challenge of defensively guarding the other team’s best perimeter player.

Halen McLaughlin 2025 Guard Michigan Mystics 17U S40
Halen is a big time scoring guard with a scoring mentality who is always in attack mode. She is skilled and has an aggressive mindset, constantly looking for opportunities to put the ball in the basket. Whether driving to the rim, pulling up for mid-range jumpers, or shooting from beyond the arc, she is relentless in putting pressure on her defender.

Analiya Fields 2026 Guard Michigan Mystics 16U S40
Analiya is a Left-hand guard with a strong handle, nice vision, and a nice ability to get downhill and attack the hoop. She had a good afternoon taking care of the ball against consistent pressure and showed she has the ability and mindset to be a quality lead guard.

Nevaeh Dickman 2025 Wing Indiana Elite Thunder
Nevaeh is a very physical wing player who was very effective in scoring in the lane and used her speed, strength, and athleticism to dominate in transition. She was aggressive, rebounded the ball at a high clip, and showed exceptional defensive skill covering multiple positions.

Isabelle Shephard 2025 Guard Indiana Elite Thunder
Isabelle has a great motor and plays the game with big time intensity every minute she is on the floor. She is a combo guard who dominates while balancing controlling the tempo with pace and patience at the 1 to moving off the ball and staying in attack mode, aggressively scoring from all over. Never outworked, Isabelle was the queen of the 50/50 ball. It was a loose ball or a long rebound, and she was usually there to grab it and start the break for her squad.

Amirah Jordan 2027 Guard Sports City Angels 16U EYBL 
Amirah is a cat quick guard who is a dual threat. She is capable of both scoring and distributing the ball effectively. Her ability to shoot from the perimeter keeps defenders honest, while her knack for finding open teammates with precise passes keeps the offense flowing. She poses a constant challenge for opposing defenses trying to contain her. 

Layla Stewart 2026 Guard Legends U 16U P24
Layla, even at a young age makes the game look effortless, she scores the ball at all levels with a nice handle beating her initial defender and finishing through and around traffic. She shoots it from deep and works hard on both ends of the floor. The scariest thing about Layla is she is already one of the top young guards in the state, and she is just getting started.

Maliyah Lofton 2026 Sports City Angels 16U EYBL
Maliyah is a powerhouse on the court, using her strength and physicality to her advantage. She thrives on attacking the basket, driving aggressively past defenders to score in the paint. Her relentless style of play puts pressure on opposing defenses and often leads to drawing fouls or creating scoring opportunities for her and her teammates. She has a fearless mindset and a determination to get to the basket.

Reese Lape 2027 Wing Michigan Mystics South 15U
Reese is a long, athletic wing who showed a great ability to handle the ball slash and create her own shot. She had an impressive performance today, playing with skill and confidence, making key plays on both offense and defense. Her length, energy, and high motor put her in position to showcase her talent and have a large impact on the game.

Mya Epps and Lillian Barnes Always 100 3SSB 2026
The guard combination completely took over the game with their exceptional play. They controlled the pace of the game, scoring points effortlessly while also setting up their teammates for easy baskets. Their defensive presence disrupted the opposing team's offense, forcing turnovers and creating fast-break opportunities. Their dominance on both ends of the floor propelled their team to victory and sent a message that they were coming for whoever got in their way!!

Elise Coleman Always 100 3SSB 2026 
Elise is a lefty wing who is an inside-out threat. She did a great job scoring in transition, knocking down the shots from deep, and scoring through contact with either hand. She is an unbelievable compliment to Epps and Barnes, making the Always 100 2026 squad hard to beat!!
