Rochester, MI: David Barns Showcase is put on for a great cause, and it also is a great excuse for some of the top Girl's basketball players in the state to come together and compete at a high level. Today at the Oakland Fieldhouse, the level of play was high, the competition was even higher, and there were definitely more than a few players that caught my eye!!

MJ Mikus 2025 | Howell HS
MJ had a great afternoon being aggressive on both ends of the floor, scoring in transition, and slashing to the hoop. MJ was one of the best defenders on the floor today, physically hounding the ball, creating turnovers, and jumping the passing lanes. MJ was one of a few Howell girls that played very well all afternoon.

Merrick Schwalbach 2025 | Stoney Creek HS
Today, Merrick did a great job creating off the bounce with a shifty handle, nice vision, and an aggressive mindset attacking the hoop. She plays the game with extreme confidence and did a great job getting to her spot on the floor to make a play.

Larissa Gibson 2024 | Lakeville HS
Larissa is a nice sized guard who did a great job attacking the hoop off the dribble and finishing through contact. She was easily one of the more aggressive players in the fieldhouse today, playing with physicality and skill, dominating on both ends of the floor. They had her name wrong on the list, but it didn’t take long for her to establish who she was on the floor!

Mackenzie Duthie 2026 | Howell HS
Mackenzie was one of the top young players on the floor today. She showed a nice skill set playing all over the floor, scoring inside and out. She shot the three ball at a high clip, defended 1-5, and was super active on the boards. Mackenzie will be one to watch this winter.

Alison Farr 2025 | Howell HS
Alison is a big-time lead guard; she causes havoc on both ends of the floor and does it all with a smile on her face. She is super quick and has great vision, and today, she did a great job running the show for her squad. Alison has a slight build but is physically aggressive and loves mixing it up. Alison could play guard for me any day of the week!

Keira Roehm 2026 | Saline HS
One of if not the most outstanding players in the showcase, Keira started the day off on fire and stayed hot throughout the day. Showing extended range and a quick release, Keira was aggressive, finding her shot and knocking it down. She also did a nice job putting the ball on the floor and attacking the hoop. Only a 2026, Keira has proven to be one of the top players in her class.

Tyra Wright 2025 | Arbor Prep HS
Tyra showed a great skill set at the guard spot today; she handled the ball with great confidence and showed the ability to beat her girl off the bounce, get in the lane and make a play. She shoots it well from the outside and was easily one of the best on the ball defenders on the court.

Harper Backus 2027 | Dexter HS
Harper's big time summer continued today at the showcase. She rebounded the ball at a high clip and was physical in the lane on offense and defense. She ran the floor and did a great job catching and finishing in the paint. Harper is definitely one of the top 2027 in herr class.

Makayla Schlorf 2026 | Tecumseh HS
Makayla used her quickness, exceptional ball handling, and vision to weave through the defense and make plays for her squad. She knocked down the three when she needed to and was one of the leaders in assist for the afternoon.

Ava Weber 2025 | Port Huron HS
Ava is a super quick, strong guard. She did a great job today. Running the show hitting the three ball, and scoring in transition. Ava played under control, using her strength offensively, getting in the lane, and defensively pressuring the basketball.

Janielle Turner 2028 | Ferndale MS
Janielle stood out today with her outstanding motor and ability to make shots from all over the floor and attack the lane aggressively, finishing in traffic over the older high school girls. Her confidence and swag are off the charts; she and her twin Mackenzie have a very bright future!

Allison Hufstedler 2025 | Oxford HS
Allison did a little bit of everything today. The strong, versatile guard was effective off the bounce, hitting the jump shot and aggressively attacking the hoop finishing through contact. Her unique skill set and toughness allow her to play and cover 1 through 4.
