Warsaw, IN: April Showers Classic has quickly become one of the top non-exposure events in the Midwest to attend. This event attracted Nike EYBL, GUAA, 3SSB, and Select 40 teams to help kick off this wonderful event.  Here are some top players and performances from April Showers Classic.

2024 Jada Collins Michigan Crossover
Jada Collins used her 6-2 frame to make an impact in the paint. She got downhill from the perimeter to score at will. She also used her length and athleticism to cause havoc on the boards. She has really come along since I last saw her.

2024 Payton Benge Indiana Elite Platinum
I saw Payton Benge twice this weekend. Simply put, she just finds a way to score the ball. She’s not the most athletic or fastest on the court, but she just has a knack for scoring the ball from all levels. Once she gets the ball into her high shooting pocket you can count it.

2025 Ameerah Grant Wisconsin Playground Elite Smith
Grant was electric in the 16U Championship game. The Diminutive One came up big time and time again when her team needed her most. I loved how she was fearless in attacking the basket which put her in a position to get several and ones. She’s super quick and super good!

2023 Rashunda Jones PG Sports City U
Not sure anyone played better on both ends of the court all weekend. Rashunda “Spider” Jones put her web on the game by pushing pace past light speed on offense. On defense, she was effective against the other team's best perimeter players. Purdue HC Katie Geralds has a stock riser on her hands.

2024 Neveah Otis Michigan Storm Elite 2024 GUAA
Michigan Storm Elite 2024 GUAA has a stable of strong, relentless guards that’s can get to the basket and deliver. I could have written about any of them. But Neveah Otis showed that little something extra is that she adds shiftiness to her relentlessness. Otis gets buckets and she gets them in bunches.

2024 Faith Wiseman PF Indiana Elite Prime 3SSB
Wiseman is a strong inside presence. Very solid in that she does the things that old-school power forwards used to get clout for doing. Wiseman made strong screens, sharp reversal passes, and displayed great effort on the boards. She consistently did the aforementioned things and it’s why Indiana Elite will win a lot of games.

2025 Laila Abdurraqib PG Indiana Blaze S40
Coming off an injury, Abdurraqib was back to her silky smooth ways. She used a change of pace to get where she wanted on the court and was efficient from the field. She shot the ball well from the perimeter, knocking down several crucial 3s in highly competitive games.

2024 Alli Harness Always 100 2024 3SSB
Love the goggles! Love her game! Love her tenacity! Harness was clutch at the PG spot. She made big plays and big shots. She has an unbelievable feel for the game and she leverages that to get her teammates involved while putting herself in a position to make an impact as well. I would expect her to get more division looks this spring/summer.

2023 Jasmine Brown Example Sports Wolfpack
The word ‘Assassin’ come to mind. She’s been so consistent over the years and this weekend was no different. Brown has all the juice and a midrange pull-up to die for. She’s going to be a great scorer at whatever level she gets to.

2023 Skylar Jones Mac Irvin Lady Fire Godfather
She was the MVP in the Super Platinum Elite Division. Jones was a blur on the court. She was special in the passing lanes as well as offensively in transition. Jones used her athleticism and first step to get downhill and finish. A few possessions later, she’s stepping out to knock down the triple. Jones offers versatility on both ends of the court and that will make her an impact player at the next level.

2024 Stacy & Stephanie Utomi Michigan Storm Elite GUAA 2024
Some kids you can’t appreciate the depth of their game unless you watch the entire game. That’s the Utomi twins. They don’t force anything.  They have a high motor, speed, and athleticism was on display as they inserted themselves in every play. Whether multiple efforts on the boards or defending multiple positions, They were impact players you couldn’t keep your eyes off of and they also showed a great touch around the basket and were elite finishers in transition. Look for the Utomi twins to blossom this summer!

2024 Brooke Simpson UTS Elite
Simpson is a baller. She played with pace and shiftiness. She’s really adept at creating shots for herself off the dribble. Her motor allows her to compete at a high level and her skill set really allowed her team to be competitive in tough games.
