Chelsea, MI: The Derby Showcase had some good teams and some of the best future talents in the game on display at Chelsea High School. Championship Sunday did not disappoint with some competitive games and some of the best young players.

Meado Cameron | Tri-County Hoopers
Meado, a long wing, showed her ability to make plays slashing to the basket, off the dribble, and did a great job using her length to cause havoc on defense. Definitely, one to watch this spring and summer.

Nicole James | Michigan Crossover
Nicole is a future dominant big; she has excellent size, great length, moves well, and shows a soft touch around the basket. She rebounded the ball at a high clip and protected the paint; her future is very bright!

Macy Zeiter | Tri-County Hoopers
Macy is a tough, feisty PG who didn’t let the age gap affect her as she handled the ball and didn’t back down one bit. She did a great job as a playmaker playing up two grades and battling on both ends of the floor.

Rihanna Young | Michigan Crossover
Young is a physical guard with a nice handle and good ball skills. Today she showed she could hit the jumper, score the rock attacking the basket and run the show for her squad.

Maria Walker |  Michigan Storm Elite
Walker has a very nice handle; she made multiple plays off the bounce. She was very aggressive on both ends of the floor and dominated all game, especially when her team needed it most.

Naiya Krispin | Michigan Crossover
Naiya is an extremely smooth guard with exceptional ball skills and an outstanding feel for the game. She scores the ball off the bounce, using her floaters, from three and can finish in traffic. She also can see the floor and drop dimes to her teammates.

Aaliyah Winston |  Michigan Crossover
Aaliyah is a very aggressive physical guard that was one of the hardest working players on both ends of the floor; on offense, she did a great job getting to the basket and scoring through contact. Defensively she created havoc on the ball or playing the passing lanes. Look out for Winston this spring and summer!

Halle Powell |  Michigan Storm
Halle showed a great feel for the game, using her ability to create off the bounce hitting the perimeter shot, and getting in the lane to make a play. Powell has great size and strength for a young guard.

Zariya McCary | Saginaw Swish
Zariyah is tall, long, athletic, and moves very well with or without the ball. She was a big factor on both ends of the floor, scoring in the paint using great footwork and a soft touch while using her length to effect and block shots on D. Sky is the limit for this young lady!

Sheridan Beal | Michigan Storm
Sheridan was a bucket; she knocked down the jumper from deep, scored in the paint, and created off the bounce if the Storm needed a basket she usually delivered. You can’t teach confidence, and Beal already naturally displays it when the rock is in her hands.

Parc Liggins |  Michigan Storm
A point guard who played well beyond her years, Liggins pretty much did it all, helping her team win the ship. She dropped dimes, ran the show, scored the rock, and locked up on defense. With her and Beal together, this Storm squad will be hard to beat!

Victorya Gamble  | 1 Nation
Gamble is a crafty PG with a nice handle great vision, and she did a great job getting in the lane and creating easy shots for herself or her teammates. She also did a great job locking up on defense, which is a must if you play for the Nation.

Mariah Cross | 1 Nation
Mariah is a tough, physical, super quick guard that consistently made plays on both ends of the floor. Cross does a great job attacking the rack off the dribble, but she also showed that she could hit the perimeter shot from deep.

Jayla Jackson | 1 Nation
Jayla is just different; that is the best way to put it. Jayla is so advanced with her floor game; she never lets the defense speed her up, she has complete control, and she can make shots you usually don’t see from a middle schooler. Jayla was hitting the jumper from deep today, making her even tougher to guard. Jayla was one of the best players I watched all day!

Olivia Rice | Always 100
Olivia was all over the floor for her squad, making big-time plays, slashing to the hoop, scoring in transition, and causing multiple turnovers with her defensive pressure. She did a great job rebounding and sharing the rock as well.

Myah Epps | Always 100
Myah, a big guard, did a great job controlling the tempo, setting up others, making some sweet moves in open court scoring in transition. She has an excellent feel for the game and showed some pretty advanced playmaking skills throughout the day.

Marinna Jones | Michigan Crossover
A big body, Marinna used her size to dominate in the paint. She was a force inside. The defense tried to slow her down but she consistently made layups while being fouled. Also a space eater on defense, she deterred penetration and was a very effective rebounder.

Kameria Lowe | Michigan Crossover
Lowe is a good rim protector. This was obvious during the tournament as she altered and blocked many shots. She ran the floor and cashed in on several offensive put backs in transition. Already an exceptional rebounder on both ends, Lowe will become more of force as she continues to progress and get stronger.

SCARY SQUAD IN THE MAKING……..
One of the more impressive squads I watched today was the Michigan Mystics 8th grade team, who didn’t even have their full roster but still showed their team will be hard to handle.
What started out as watching a few players for a write-up turned into a team full of players that showed they deserved some ink!

Molly Walker
Molly does a little bit of everything; she played great defense, rebounded the basketball, and showed she could score in transition.

Layla Stewart
Layla has a very nice handle, a great feel for the game, and did a great job running the show and hitting her teammates for easy buckets. She also showed she could score the rock as well.

Cece Arico
Cece showed her all-around dominance today, getting in the lane finishing in traffic, making plays while running the point, and scoring off the ball. She also took the challenge of covering the other team’s best players and locking up on defense.

Sadie Dykstra
Saddie has great size and length for a wing and showed her athleticism with some of her strong finishes at the basket.

Lilly Williams
Lilly dominated the PAINT today; she blocked and changed multiple shots, scored at will, and rebounded the basketball at a very high clip. Every time I see Lilly, she seems to get better and more comfortable being the dominant girl in the middle that she is.

Alesia Ode
Alesia is a very smart, long guard with a great feel for the game and the ability to make plays off the bounce. She did a great job using her length on both ends of the floor.

Keira Roehm 8th Grade
Shooters shoot……. Keira has a sweet stroke and knows how to find a way to get her shot off against any defense. She is a very smart guard who always seems to make the right play, and with her ability to hit the outside shot and put it on the floor it makes her a hardcover on this loaded squad.
