Charlotte, NC: After a year off due to Covid-19 the Providence Day Super Scrimmage picked up in 2021 where they left off in 2019. Still one of the top pre-season events on the east coast. This year's event was loaded with talented high school varsity teams from North and South Carolina.

Team Reviews

Julius Chambers (formerly Vance HS – Charlotte)
A very deep team at all positions. This talented group does a good job playing together and the fresh legs rotating in allows them to wear down their opponents over the course of the game. The team is led by 2024 pg Mila Holloway a shifty guard the gets it done on both ends. 2023 g Zoe Henderson, 2024 pf Seini Hicks, 2022 post Trinity Moreland and 2023 post Jada Creech make the Cougars a difficult out for anyone. Can Chambers 3 peat?

Panther Creek
Panther Creeks backcourt trio 2023 g Madisyn Jordan, 2024 pg Taylor Barner and 2024 g Olivia Tucker was the best backcourt in the gym. Jordan at 6’1 is a silky smooth off guard that shoots the cover off the rock, Barner is a high IQ pg with a non-stop motor that shoots the three ball consistently if you back up fearing the drive and Tucker plays downhill always in attack mode. Once you add the frontcourt presence of 2023 Amira Ofunniyin to the mix, this deep is destined for a deep run in the 4A state playoffs.

Asheville Christian
Asheville showed up with 7 on the roster but it didn’t matter, this group plays so well together. A tough group of kids that really get after it on both ends. 2023 Evangelia Paulk a 6’ guard that is at her best slashing to the cup along with the deep shooting of 2023 PG Emma Larios and the grittiness of 2023 g Katie Alexander makes this group a tough game for anyone.

Cannon School
The defending state champions had a good showing at the super scrimmage. 2023 PG Samyha Suffren leads the way for this group that features a couple of 2024 guards in Maya McCorkle and Lili Booker alongside her. Suffren is one of the state's top defensive players, her on ball defense smothers opposing point guards and causes lots of turnovers. 2023 g Ashley Fowler’s consistent outside shooting spreads the floor and allows Cannon’s group of guards to attack and create.

Concord Academy
After starting the day off slow the Eagles picked it up and showed that they should be there, in the end, fighting for back to back state championships. 2023 Zoey Ward a 6’ guard that can flat out shoot it from the perimeter showed the ability to get to rack and finish in traffic, 2024 guard Raven LeXander is a long slashing guard that can defend the 1-4, and 2023 PG McKenzie Taylor is a lightning quick guard that scores in bunches.
