Ann Arbor, MI – Excitement, energy, and talent-filled the gymnasium at Concordia University as the Women's Basketball Program hosted more than 40 players for their Elite Camp Sunday. The camp started with some cardio and defensive footwork drills to get to blood flowing and the sweat pouring. This was to help show, as Coach Kiefer Haffey said: “who can perform at a high level when they are tired.”  This was followed up by full-court and half-court skill work drills to help campers identify the skills that colleges are looking for in players, as well as where they grade out in regards to these skills. There is a great deal that can be learned by watching players body language as they participate in drills. Then came the part of the camp that everyone is waiting for the most … 5 on 5 competition. There were a number of very talented players in the gym, and all deserved to be commended for their energy and effort.

Here is a list of players that did things today to stand out:

2020 Nikki Dompierre 5’3” PG Hartland HS (MI)
Tough as nails PG, scrappy on defense, assertive on offense, looks to attack the basket, has excellent court vision, will push the ball in transition, will mix it up for loose balls and rebounds despite being undersized.

2020 Eve Monaghan 6’2” Chaminade-Julienne HS (OH)
Solid, physical, true post, very active inside, knows how to use her body, has good hands and feet, can finish on both sides of the basket.

2020 Alex Maher 5’9” Wing  Springport HS (MI)
An active physical wing that looks to attack the basket can bring the ball up the court in transition, very active on the boards, high motor, not afraid of contact.

2021 Alexis Thomas 5’8” CG New Boston Huron HS (MI)
Big guard that can play the 1 or the 2, will look to attack the basket but can also knock down the midrange jumper, has excellent court vision and a big arm to throw deep outlet passes on  the break.
