Lansing, MI: There was some outstanding lead guard play on display today at the Michigan Jamboree, these girls ran the show, scored the rock and defended at a high level.

Maestros At The Point

2021 Kailee Davis Michigan Crossover
Easily one of, if not the best guard in the gym plays with a smooth style and a flair that will have you shaking your head in awe. Davis can do it all on the floor and is an impossible cover for anyone stuck trying to guard her.

2020 Nyam Thornton Michigan Crossover
Nyam does not take a back seat to backcourt mate Damiya Hagemann but complements her style with a steady, unrattled floor game that ran the show, got buckets and defended at a high level. Thornton caught my eye with some outstanding passes and plays to help lead the Crossover's comeback down 12 to MBA before falling short at the end. Thornton is a big-time guard that will have a huge July.

2021 Jillian Brown Michigan Basketball Academy
Big time PG play with court awareness and a feel for the game well beyond her years. Brown was the lead guard and ran the show for MBA in the game I watched them win vs. the Crossover. Brown is an outstanding passer that has a great handle and knows when to get a bucket if necessary.

2021 Alexis McCully Michigan Basketball Academy
Didn't play as much as the other guards mentioned, but when she was in made some eye-catching moves to get to the basket and get a bucket or set up a teammate. Mccully is a strong guard with a great handle and has some craft in her game, which made her tough to keep out of the lane. Look for her to blow up this month.

2022 Olivia Dirkse Michigan Cagers
Playing against a tough Always 100 team, Dirkse was excellent handling the pressure, delivering the rock and scoring when needed. Dirkse is a tough, hard-nosed guard that attacks the whole game and is relentless as she set up her teammates for easy bucket attempts if the defender backed off of her, she knocked down the jumper.

2022 Olivia Smith Always 100
Smith, from Fort Wayne Indiana, is the real deal, she was everything and everywhere for her Always 100 squad today. Smith is cat quick, had the ball on a string and pretty much got to any spot on the floor she wanted to. In one of the games I saw she just flat out took over down the stretch to secure the victory in the last two minutes she had two steals two buckets a dime and two free throws, GAME OVER.

Bucket Getters

There were a few girls that just "GOT BUCKETS" all day, and these girls showed range, ability to get to the rack and a feel to score at ease.

2021 Alyssa Vantimmeren Michigan Crossover
It seemed like every time the Crossover needed a big bucket; they looked at Alyssa who answered repeatedly. She hit from three, went to the basket, put it on the floor with spin moves, crossed her girl over whatever it took to get a bucket she had it in her arsenal. A smooth stroke and a surprisingly nice handle to get to her spot Vantimmeren had a nice day.

2021 Alex Long Michigan Cagers
This girl has
game. After seeing her for the second time n Sunday afternoon, nothing changed from the first time; this girl can score the rock. She hit three's, made mid-range two's, I watched her get three, and one's in one game she did it all.  If you love bucket getters, you will love Alex Long. Look for her to score a ton of points this July.

2020 Jolee Houle MBA
One of the purest jump shots you will see, Houle didn't flinch in the game vs. Crossover if she caught it on the wing it was up and in for three. She hit two huge back-breaking shots during Crossovers comeback and made it look easy. Shooters Shoot.
