A few players stood out in Fort Wayne this past weekend

5’7” 2023 SG Nevaeh Foster Nike Lady Gym Rats White
I’ve seen Nevaeh many times over the past few years, and she seems to get better every time out.  At the Gym Rats MLK Classic, she looked unstoppable driving to the basket and was very good from 3.  The best part of her game is probably her transition game.  I saw her break down double teams off the dribble and finish with a variety of finishing moves around the basket.  She started the weekend with two 30+ point games.  She was probably on her way to another one, but an unfortunate ankle injury ended her weekend.  Get better “Vaeh”!

6’2” 2022 SF Ayanna Patterson Always 100 McGee
This is my second event seeing Ayanna, and as I saw what she did last week, she didn't disappoint me this time around either. She ran the floor effortlessly and finished at the basket with precision.  Patterson protects the rim well but can be susceptible to the pump fake.  Patterson led Always 100 McGee to a 62-46 win over Indiana Girls Basketball - Morse.

5’6” 2022 PG Bailey Stephens MBA 2022
Bailey plays hard.  She’s a product of the signature intense, go hard style of Rod Creech’s MBA teams. Stephens handles pressure well.  She’s also a good game manager.  Bailey expends a lot of energy on defense and attacks the basket well whether finishing at the basket or setting teammates up for open shots.  I’d say she’s the engine that makes the team run.

5’9” 2023 G/F Alli Stevens Always 100 Goodwell
Alli hit multiple pull-up jumpers. She has a beautiful looking form on her 3 point shot and shoots it with confidence.  She’s a bull when going downhill in transition toward the basket.

6’1” 2023 PF Skylar Tomasek Always 100 Goodwill
I enjoyed watching the interactions between Skylar and Always 100 coach, David Goodwill.  I could tell Skylar wants to get better.  When Coach “Goody” corrected her on how she should defend the basket, she made adjustments.  When he encouraged her to finish shots, she tried harder, and that led to multiple trips to the free throw line.  At 6’1”, Skylar runs the floor well and doesn’t mind getting on the floor for loose balls.  She also made some excellent moves relocating after offensive rebounds and has range out to about 15-18 ft.

5’6” 2022 PG Olivia Davis IGB Morse
Olivia was impressive in IGB’s win over Hoosier Force.  She finished with 22 points, including three threes, and hand full of assist.  Olivia Davis has a big-time handle and a big-time game. She had the best handles of all the PG’s I observed this weekend.  Olivia has a very high I.Q. and her shot selection was impeccable.  Can’t wait to see her play again.
