Haslett takes frustration out on Okemos on Friday night

Haslett 57 Okemos 27

Haslett, MI: The game plan was simple, Haslett would not let Hartman dominate. After suffering a season-opening loss on Tuesday to Jackson Northwest, the Vikings of Haslett took their frustration out on Okemos on Friday night in front of a packed home crowd to cruise to 57-27 victory. Haslett held the Okemos star Hartman to just five points as they played a Box & 1 defense on her. The Vikings held a double-digit halftime lead and did not have a second-half meltdown. Haslett came out in the third quarter clicking on both ends of the court to increase their lead up to 22 points and never looked back. Okemos tried to make a run in the final period with sophomore Jasmine Clerkely scoring a few easy buckets, but every time the Chiefs thought they could get it going, Haslett would strike right back. Okemos will be back in action on Monday at home against Mason, while Haslett will host Lansing Everett on Tuesday night.

Player Highlights

6'2" Post 2020 Imani Baker - Haslett HS
Baker had a slow start, but she took over the game in the second half. She was tough to contain on the low block as she displayed a soft touch around the basket and pulled down double-digit rebounds. Baker, who scored a game-high 21 points, will be tough for anyone to stop if they try to defend her without help.

6'0" Post 2020 Jasmine Clerkley - Okemos HS
Clerkley did everything she could to keep her team in the game. She was not able to get any clean looks at the basket, due to being tightly defended when she touched the ball in the paint, but that did not stop her from competing until the final buzzer. Clerkley had a team-high 11 points.
