Rikki Harris '19 Showed Us This Weekend Why She's A High Major Recruit

6'2" Whitney Sollom '20 Had A Great Showing In Fort Wayne This Past Weekend Against Some Notch Top Talent

Fort Wayne, IN: The Lady Gym Rats Invitational was the place to be this past weekend as there were many players from all levels in attendance who participated in front of several Division II, Division III & NAIA coaches.  Certainly those coaches found a great number of potential players for their programs. However, there were several players that exhibited superior skills; making them prime prospects for BCS level schools. Among those players are the following:

Angel Baker 2018 5’10” Point Guard George Hill Rising Stars 17U
Baker was a pure floor general who runs a team exceptionally well, while also finding ways to put the ball in the basket herself. Baker is an outstanding ball handler and showed good control on the ball. She showed her quickness and explosiveness attacking the rim. Also, she didn’t shy away from away contact at all. Baker played with toughness all weekend and competed at the highest level to help her team to an Elite Silver Championship.

Lauren Lee 2018 5’9” Wing Guard Midwest Elite 16U EYBL Platinum
First thing you notice about Lee is her quickness and ball handling. There were not too many guards that stopped her from getting to the basket with her quick first step and ability to get the ball off with speed and accuracy. Lee is a nice shooter from behind the arc and will hit contested and open shots. She penetrated gaps and got to the rim easily. Lee is one of those players who competes and plays hard on every play. She’s very aggressive with the ball and a legitimate threat on the offensive end.

Brianna Mishler 2018 5’8” Wing Guard Nike Lady Gym Rats Tan 16U
Mishler was spectacular as a spot up shooter at this event. She showed the ability to put the ball on the floor and hit mid range shots consistently. She also showed the potential in her handles causing her defenders to lose track of her. Mishler was a great drive and kicker disturbing the ball out to her open teammates on the wing.

Aaliyah Patty 2018 6’4” Post Illinois Lady Lighting Platinum Seberger
Patty moves well for her size.  Standing at 6’4”, this able post player showed good agility and the ability to knock down a ten-foot jump shot. As a defender, she blocked numerous shots, and can run rim to rim to get open buckets in transition. An impressive offensive rebounder, Patty scored a majority of points off of put-backs from her teammates missed shots.

Arieal Scott 2018 5’8” Wing Guard Nike Lady Gym Rats Silver EYBL 16U
The Duke commit was one of the best in the entire field house throughout the weekend. Her shooting from behind the arc is impressive and whenever she’s open you will regret that big time. Scott can shoot the ball from anywhere around the perimeter and beyond deep from the three-point line. She hit 5-7 from the three-point line against X-Citement Future Stars. Whenever her team needed a bucket or two she was the go to girl. Not to mention, she can also handle the ball and find ways to get to the basket; she’s not only a shooter. Scott’s shooting reminds me of J.J.Redick with how quickly she comes off of screens and shoots as well as her ability to stroke it from deep. Her performance on the weekend led her Lady Gym Rats to an Elite Platinum Championship.

Rikki Harris 2019 5’8” Combo Guard Georgie Hill Rising Stars 17U
Harris is an athletic and crafty guard with the ball in her hands. She has a scorer’s mentality and makes the big plays down the stretch. Harris was very active in the passing lanes over the weekend, and was a tough on ball defender causing trouble for her opponents. Her quickness was a problem for her defenders because no one could stop her. She got to the basket whenever she wanted to and scored the ball.

Jordon Hortson 2019 6'1" Point Guard All Ohio Black
Hortson is a long and wiry point guard that possesses great skills. She scores in the open and half court with a quick first step, and slashes through the paint demonstrating excellent body control. She also has a nice mid-range pull up jumper. Jordan uses her length to shoot and pass over smaller defenders with ease. Hortson has a good handle and is an able and willing passer because she has a good feel on how to get teammates involved. She's an excellent perimeter rebounder on both ends and is also a good enough athlete to be capable of defending both wing positions as well.

Whitney Sollom 2020 6’2” Post Michigan Mystics
Sollom is a skilled high post player. She can play from the high post or on the block. She has good size with room to add weight if needed. Sollom scores better with her back to the basket especially when she has a size advantage. She displays a good feel and touch on both sides of the basket and finishes with either hand. She is a solid defender and is capable of blocking shots. Whitney’s skill and versatility are what make her a high level prospect.

Sydney Parrish 2020 6’1” Wing Guard Nike Lady Gym Rats Silver EYBL
Parrish is already one of the best players from the state of Indiana regardless of class. She has a very high basketball IQ which allows her to beat her opponent in many ways. She has a sweet shooting stoke out to 22’ whether it’s spotting up or off the catch. She has the size and length to play on the blocks when needed to.

Gabrielle Elliott 2020 5’11” Wing Guard Michigan Storm Elite Taylor
Elliott is long and very athletic. She is an excellent rim attacker and also has a nice mid-range shot. Elliott has a good first step that allows her to beat defenders and get to the rim where she can finish in heavy traffic or draw the foul. Gabby will not hesitate to post a smaller defender and simply elevate over them.  She competes and plays better when the stakes are high.

RaShaya Kyle 2020 6'5" Post Always 100 Wilmont
Kyle is a long, athletic post player with great size and mobility.  She scores with her back to the basket and driving off the dribble.  Her ability to handle and pass down court on the break is uncanny for a young player her size.  She often starts the break off the defensive glass and finishes on the other end after taking the ball “coast-to-coast.”  Kyle is also an excellent passer out of the post.  An aggressive rebounder and defender, RaShaya doesn’t hesitate to get on the floor for loose balls.  She also showed the ability to defend the high pick and roll.
