Cydney Williams Layup Sends Arbor Prep Back To The Breslin Center

Arbor Prep 41 Williamston 39

Brighton, MI: Playing on the big stage Tuesday night, the Arbor Prep Gators showed why they have the senior leadership and championship mentality to capture a Class B title. Cydney Williams layup with 16.3 seconds remaining gave Arbor Prep a thrilling 41-39 victory over Williamston to send the Gators to the Class B Semifinals on Friday.

Kenzie Lewis 5’7” PG Williamston HS 2020
Was very impressed on how Lewis handled the Gators pressure defense for most of the game. She didn’t turn the ball over much, and was able to make some pin point passes for some easy layups. Only a freshman, look for Lewis to have a standout sophomore season.

Maddie Watters 5’8” WG Williamston HS 2018
Watters was face guarded the entire game, but that didn’t stop the sharpshooter from making a few clutch plays down the stretch that allowed her team a chance at a victory. She was the primary ball handler, as well as the main scorer throughout the night. Watters made a few nice moves at the basket and knocked down a few triples. She finished with a game high 21 points.

Adrienne Anderson 5’9” WG Arbor Prep HS 2017
The Ferris State signee was assigned to shut down Williamston’s Maddie Watters and she did a phenomenal job in doing so. Anderson made it very difficult for Watters to get any open looks as she fought through screens and applied tremendous ball pressure. Adrienne was a factor on the offensive end as she made some very key baskets down the stretch.

Mahrianna Petree 5’11” PG Arbor Prep HS
Petree was the spark off the bench that the Gators needed. She made a huge 15- foot jumper at the end of the 3rd quarter that gave Arbor Prep a one point lead heading into the fourth quarter. She was effective at rebounding on the offensive end on the court which gave Arbor Prep a few more scoring opportunities. Mahrianna can do a lot of things on the court, but she’s buying into what the team needs her to do.
