With Detroit Edison leading at the half 31-29, 2020 Gabrielle Elliott took off and had a hot third quarter that included a couple of triples to spark a run for the Pioneers. The 6’ Elliott who had a game high 28 points, played with extreme confidence knocking down key shots at the right times to help Detroit Edison hang onto a 63-56 victory over Canton on Thursday night. Sophomore teammate Rickea Jackson chipped in with 23 points. Erin Hult and Brianna Finn each scored 18 points to lead the Chiefs.

Gabrielle Elliott 6’ WG Detroit Edison 2020
Elliott was fantastic. The explosive wing had her very own scoring spree in the third quarter, finding gaps in the defense, and rising past defenders en route to 12 third quarter points. She got practically any look she wanted offensively and shot the ball very well from the perimeter. She was active defensively on the glass and impacted the game in a variety of ways. Elliott played the passing lanes very well and when she wants to attack the boards, can be a very sound rebounder. She finished with a game high 28 points.

Rickea Jackson 6’3” WF Detroit Edison 2019
Jackson was not as dominate as we are used to seeing her, but the talented wing still came away with a quiet 23 points and 11 rebounds performance. She ran the floor, rebounded, blocked shots and made some nice strong finishes inside the paint. She didn’t shoot it well from the perimeter on Thursday night, but she didn’t let that affect her.

Erin Hult 6’1 WF Canton 2017
Hult is the heart of soul of the Chiefs team. She was athletically at a disadvantage against Detroit Edison’s frontline, but that did not stop her from competing. Known for her perimeter shooting, Hult did not have the shooting night that she normally has, however she did knock down a few triples to keep her team in the game. Hult finished with a team 18 points.
