The Michigan Mystics showed that they have the talent to compete with anyone

Perryburg, OHOn Day 3, the last day of the Fall Jam Fest, many teams were drained, bruised and battle tested. However that did not stop them from competing at a high level and again impressing the college coaches that sat baseline to watch. At the conclusion of this great event, I think it is safe to say that the lady ballers of 2020 have arrived and are a force to be dealt with. Look for them to make huge splashes during this year’s high school season in their respective states.

Here are the stand-outs for Day 3 of the Fall Jam Fest:

#32 Lizzy Groetsch  2021  5’9” Wing  WPA Bruins-Johnson
A skilled wing that plays gritty basketball on both ends, Lizzy was a sight for sore eyes on the court. She has a high IQ for her age and it showed by her constantly out smarting and out hustling her opponents; even a few of the ones that were two years her senior. Lizzy finished strong in transition, crashed the boards for rebounds, dove on the floor for loose balls, and knocked down several sweet jump shots.

#11 Madison Royal-Davis  2021  6’0”  Guard/Wing  Michigan Crossover 14u
Blocking shots, deflecting passes and grabbing rebounds then going coast to coast for easy layups were three things that Madison did every game on Sunday. Although she has not yet entered high school, she had no problem competing against high school players in fast paced games. Madison let it be known that she can defend and play multiple positions, including point guard.

#30 Morasha Wiggins  2021  5’11”  Wing  Michigan Crossover 14u
Long and athletic, Wiggins played much bigger than her slim frame and her young age. Jumping out of the gym to snatch down rebounds or catch lob passes from her teammates, Morasha was beyond impressive. She runs the court well and was able to defend inside and out. She’s quick and uses her long limbs to her advantage.

#12 Allison Collins  2018  5’6”  Guard  WPA Bruins-Zeise
Collins was one of the best shooters all weekend. She has the ability to knock down deep shots coming off a pick and with her feet set. Allison is also a scrappy defender and on a few occasions stopped teams from making game changing plays.

#22 Camree Clegg  2018  5’5”  PG  1 Nation Elite
After a somewhat slow start on Friday, Clegg bounced back like a champ and put her team on her shoulders Sunday. Coming back from an 11 point deficit late in the third quarter, Clegg would lead her team on a 12-2 run, and was directly or indirectly responsible for 16 consecutive points for her squad. Her leadership, great court vision, pass precision and hot hand allowed her team to gain control of the game and come out victorious.

#20 Mauriya Barnes  2019  5’6”  PG  Michigan Crossover 15u
Seeing the court in the mist of chaos is difficult to do, but Barnes does it very well. A quick point guard on a very high paced run and gun team, Mauriya made sure the ball got down the court quickly and to an open man for easy buckets. When she wasn’t dropping dimes, she was knocking down 12 footers or getting to the basket and finishing with easy layups.

#12 Elise Stuck  2020  6’2”  Wing  Michigan Mystics-Black
Elise was the quiet storm this weekend. She killed teams quietly by doing the things so many players forget about; boxing out, sliding into help defense, setting her feet and squaring up to the basket, and being aware of what’s in her area. She is a solid defender and was able to guard the wing and the post. She has a nice jump shot that was most effective off the dribble.

#20 Makenna Marisa  5’8”  Guard  WPA Bruins-Cash
At first sight, one would think that Marisa is a set shooter that comes in the game when a big shot is needed. However she is far more than that. Makenna was able to use her small frame to her advantage, maneuvering through traffic to get to the paint and knock down a nice floater or dump the ball down to her post players. She makes great decisions with the ball in her hand and has a killer shot that she can knock down in the clutch.

#22 Jasmine Powell  2019  5’6”  Guard  Michigan Crossover EYBL
Powell was one of, if not the best defender this weekend. She took on defensive assignments like her life depended on it and was the cause of numerous turnovers and steals. She is extremely quick and extremely tough. She took a hard elbow to the face and within minutes was back on the court playing at full speed. Jasmine also showed that she has been working on her shot, knocking down some threes.

#11 Jordan Edwards  2018  5’7”  PG  WPA Bruins-Zeise
Edwards is a high energy point guard that did an awesome job of maintaining her composure during tough situations. Never letting up on defense, Edwards’ effort was often a key reason as to why her team would have a fighting chance when facing some very tough teams. Offensively she was most effective knocking down a jump shot off the dribble and also drawing in the defense to get the ball to her post players.
