Coaches poured into the gym to set eyes on the great talent that hit the court on Day 2

Perryburg, OHThe highly anticipated LBI Fall Jam Fest kicked off Friday night on the campus of Owens Community College and continued through Sunday. Numerous Division I and II colleges poured into the gym to set eyes on the great talent that hit the court, and Day 2 was filled with more great games and even a few shockers. Below are the names of a few players that gave it all on the court.

#10 Emily Cavacini  2020  5’3”  PG  WPA Bruins-JL
Cavacini showed that she’s able to bring all the point guard attributes coaches look for to the game on a consistent basis. She took control of her team and was a strong vocal leader. When they would get rattled or go away from the game plan, she would always get them to regroup and back focused. She has excellent court vision and made great decisions with the ball. Emily also was a strong and aggressive defender.

#24 Katelyn Sherwood  2018  5’8”  Guard  Factory Basketball-2018 (Michigan)
Katelyn was everywhere on the court, being active and always hustling to try and make a play. She is a tough kid on defense and did a good job at reading passes and creating turnovers for the other team. She knew what to do with the ball in her hands whether it was score or find an open teammate. Sherwood played both the shooting guard and point guard for her squad. Wayne State head coach Carrie Lohr is getting a very good player.

#30 Morasha Wiggins  2021  5’11”  Wing  Michigan Crossover 14u
Long and athletic, Wiggins played much bigger than her slim frame and her young age. Jumping out of the gym to snatch down rebounds or catch lob passes from her teammates, Morasha was beyond impressive. She runs the court well and was able to defend inside and out. She’s quick and uses her long limbs to her advantage.

#5 Julia Ayrault  2019  6’2”  Guard/Wing  Michigan Mystics-Black
A tough and disciplined player, Ayrault was her team’s floor general on Saturday with and without the ball in her hands. She did a good job of seeing the floor and pointing teammates to the right spot to keep their offense flowing. She consistently set her teammates up to be successful, but also scored and created shots for herself. She’s a tough kid that was often on the floor scrabbling for loose balls.

#22 Jakarri Alven  2019  5’9”  Wing  Michigan Crossover 15u
Alven was the player that caused opposing players to be relieved when she checked out of the game. Her long arms were constantly in someone’s way; altering shots, intercepting passes, or grabbing rebounds. She is quick enough to guard smaller players and beat bigger players off the dribble.

#45 Jasmine Edwards  2020  5’10” Wing/Post  Hype Lady Hoopsters (Michigan)
Edwards was a dominate rebounder on both ends in every game she played. She was effective off the dribble, finishing at the basket and facing the rim in the post. Jasmine works hard and you knew when she was no longer in the game. If she keeps working hard and developing her skill set, she has the potential to do big things.

#21 Ariel Jenkins  2020  6’0”  Post  Michigan Crossover 14u
Jenkins played much bigger than what you would expect for her size. She did a great job catching the ball on the block during fast breaks and going straight up for the finish. She keeps the ball high when rebounding as well, chinning the ball when in a crowd and looking for her outlet. She did an amazing job guarding bigger players and not getting in foul trouble.

#44 Ayanna Townsend  2018  6’1”  Post  WPA Bruins-Cash
Townsend is the type of player that understands her role and does her part to help her team be successful. She has a strong build and used it to box out opponents and dominate the boards. She finished at the rim with contact and was an effective defender. Her attitude was also impressive; shaking off mistakes quickly and getting her head back in the game.

#14 Secrect Hughes  2018  6’2”  Post  All Ohio Xpress 2018
An undeniable force in the paint, Hughes used a soft touch and superb rebounding to score 10 consecutive points for her team. She moves very well for her size and did a nice job of working to get open. She plays best facing the basket and was able to take some contact. Improving on her footwork and post moves will make Secrect Hughes almost unstoppable.

#21 Edecia Beck  2018  5’11”  Wing  Michigan Crossover EYBL
A player not afraid to get dirty or receive some contact, Beck often used her solid frame and strength to bully her way to the basket. When a loose or jump ball situation presented itself, more than likely Beck was on the floor, fighting to give her team possession. She also knocked down a couple of big three pointers in some very tight games.

#33 Nya Nicholson  2021  5’9”  Wing/Post  WPA Bruins-Johnson
Nya is a long athletic kid that stood out right away. She moves quickly for her length and size and that allows her to defend every position. She runs the court efficiently and knows how to fill the lanes in transition to make herself available to score. Nicholson is a huge rebounder and has a very high upside. We are looking forward to seeing her develop.
