Many Guards Showcased Their Talents In Augusta, GA

Augusta, GA- The end of travel season came to an end, but before the final buzzer sounded, many teams invaded the city of Augusta for the annual Nike Nationals tournament. This is one of the premier events in the country and many of the top teams & players attend; showcasing their talents in front of over 300 college coaches that were also in attendance.

# 5 Victoria Saxton  6’1”  2018  Post  Team Elite Hubbard (GA)
Saxton is an athletic post that plays with a high motor and rebounds, block shots and does all of her scoring damage inside the paint. She excelled in transition by running the floor and getting easy dump offs from her guards. She had a couple of assertive face-up moves that showed that she can put the ball on the floor.

#30 Ashley Owusu  5’11”  2019  Point Guard  Boo Williams EYBL (VA)
A highly skilled player that made a lot of plays in the open floor for her talented Boo Williams EYBL squad, Ashley wasn't afraid to push the ball ahead, rewarding her wings or bigs for running the floor by getting them the ball. She was able to get the rim for easy finishes and pull-up jumpers.

#10 Ashley Joens  5’11”  2018  Point Guard  All Iowa Attack EYBL (IA)
Joens doesn't pass the eye test as an elite scorer, but don't let her looks fool you. She kept everything simple as she displayed that she can score in multiple ways in various games. Ashley made several three-point bombs and posted up on the low block, where she made some nice up and under moves. She drove the ball hard to the basket and was able to finish over post players while initiating contact.

#4 Sam Haiby  5’9” 2018  Guard  North Tartan (MN)
Halby has the size and athleticism to do a lot of good things on the court. She made some nice drives to the basket finishing at the rim with either hand, off the dribble and off the break. Sam is a lock down defender and forced her opponent into several turnovers with her long arms & quick feet.

#0 Kaela Webb  5’6”  2018  Point Guard  Michigan Crossover (MI)
Webb made plays happen in both the half court set and transition. She made defenders pay when she came off the pick roll by hitting a cutting teammate diving to the basket or spotting up on the wing for an open three. Webb would drill the pull-up jumper when her defender went under the screen. She handled the ball very well under pressure and she didn’t have many turnovers.

#21 Edecia Beck  5’11”  2018  Guard  Michigan Crossover 15U EYBL (MI)
Beck has established herself as one of the 2018 stock risers coming out of Nike Nationals. She had a good game against eventual champions Team Elite Hubbard and showed that she could compete with the best in her class. She is a strong wing that rebounds  on both ends and is at her best attacking the basket and finishing through contact. Her midrange game is improving and she showed that she could defend on the perimeter as well on the block.

#23 Mary Crompton  5’8”  2018  Guard  All Iowa Attack 15U EYBL (IA)
Crompton is a knock down shooter that is not afraid of the big shot. She proved that she was one of the top long range shooters in the 15u EYBL division. Mary also showed a solid handle and made good decisions with the ball. On the defensive end she can guard the 1 or the 2 and does a good job of playing the passing lanes.
