Chicago, ILDay 2 if the NIKE EYBL Invitational and the NIKE Tournament of Champions was more exciting than the day before. Teams seem to be free of jet lag, “travel legs” and nerves and the level of competition went to another height. The day was filled with buzzer beaters, lock down defense, and amazing plays. Here is just a few of the phenomenal players on the courts yesterday…

#15 Jordan Isaacs  2019  6’2”  Post  Team Elite EYBL-Porter (GA)
A quick post player that runs the court like the guards, Isaacs was everywhere she needed to be, when she needed to be there. She is a strong rebounder that crashes the boards relentlessly. Her strong athletic frame allows her to set perfect picks to free up her guards, or opens her up to roll to the basket where she finished strong, often getting to the foul line.

#33 Annie Stritzel  2019  5’10”  Guard  Midwest Elite 15u EYBL (IL)
In a tough battle against the Carolina Flames, Annie was the firecracker that gave her team fight and energy. Driving to the basket and finishing with a layup or knocking down a pretty jump shot, Stritzel scored 7 straight points to give her team the momentum they needed and the lead. She is a tough kid and not afraid of a little contact, which got her to the free throw line where she has a high percentage.

#12  Madison “Maddie” Stevenson  2019  5’6”  1 Nation Elite (MI)
Stevenson is small, but she packs a lot of power when the ball goes in the air. The 5’6” guard has range like you wouldn’t believe. Maddie knocked down triples from all over the court, and many of them well beyond the arch. With a defender often not too far away, she was able to knock down 5 three pointers, helping her team to overcome a deficit and walk away with a win.

#23   Tamari Key 2019  6’5”  Post  Carolina Flames EYBL (NC)
On Day 1 of the tournament, Key showed her potential; coming off the bench and finding her place within the flow of the game. On Day 2 she not only earned more minutes on the court, but showed just how athletic she really is. The legit 6’5” young post has great timing, frequently blocking multiple shot attempts before grabbing the ball and getting it to her guards. She has a soft touch, finishing at the rim with ease. As she gets stronger and matures, look to see and hear her name often.

#3  Nyam Thornton  2020  5’8”  Point Guard  All Ohio Freshman
Thornton is the type of point guard that every coach would love to have. She has great court vision and knows when to pull the ball out, reset, or attack the rim herself. She is a vocal leader that can direct traffic during transition and while executing a play. She is aggressive on both ends of the court and often created turnovers and steals that converted into easy buckets for her team.
