North Carolina Teams had a good showing in Raleigh

Raleigh, NC – Raleigh Convention Center and surrounding schools hosted the Deep South and Raleigh Invitational. Over 500 teams from across the country crowded the city for a weekend full of basketball in front of college coaches  who came to look for the future of their programs. There were a lot of talented players between the two events, here are a few that stood out.

2017

Maria Albiero 5’8 G Carolina Waves 17u
Pure point guard with great court vision and the ability to fill it up when called on. She has a good handle, locks down on defense and is her teams vocal leader.

Shamachya Duncan 5’5 G Carolina Play Hard 17u
Duncan is an active guard with a tight handle and good court vision. She shoots the ball well beyond the arc and is a good on ball defender.

2018

Izabela Leite 5’9 PG Carolina Waves 17u
Leite is big physical guard with a nose for the ball on the defensive end. She has great court vision in transition and always seems to make the right play.

 

Lorelei Roper 6’1 Post Charlotte Lady Warriors 15u
A do it all post that is flying under the radar. She has great footwork, rebounds both ends, finishes strong in the paint and has some bounce that makes her a good shot blocker.

Elissa Cunane 6’4 Post Greensboro Lady Gaters 15u
Cunane is a big strong post that does a great job blocking and disrupting shots. She has good hands and does a good job rebounding both ends.

Kendra Ross 6’2 Post Lady Royals 15u (NC)
Ross is a physical player with good footwork on the block. She does a nice job rebounding and finishing. She was a force in the paint on the defensive end.

Courtney Meadows 5’5 PG Peak Performance Engram
Meadows did a great job running her team. She showcased an improved jumpshot to go along with her next level ability to get into the lane and create for her teammates. As always she locked down on defense making it difficult for opposing point guard to get into their sets.

2019

Elizabeth Kitley 6’4 Post Greensboro Lady Gaters 15u
Kitley is North Carolina’s top post in the 2019 class. A very strong post with great hands and a soft touch around the rim. She is very athletic, runs the floor and finishes through contact.

Maya Johnson 6’ Post Carolina All Stars Norwood
Johnson is a athletic shot blocker that does a great job making it difficult for the opposition to get shots off in the paint. She’s really good rebounding on the defensive end.

Jada Smith 6’1  Post Triangle Tarheels 17u
Big time athlete with some bounce that rebounds well on both ends. She runs the floor and does a good job finishing in transition. Tremendous upside, kid has only been playing ball for 2 years.

Imani Elliott 5’5 PG Triangle Tarheels 17u
Super quick point guard that loves to attack the paint. Elliott scored it as well as any small guard this past weekend. Her speed makes her a major problem on defense.

Bryanna Troutman 6’ G Rowan Hurricanes 17u
Big time athlete, very strong, jumps out the gym. Has a good handle and good court vision. She rebounds both ends and finishes with the best of them.

2020

Amirah Abdur-Rahim 6’2 WF FBC YoungGunz
A 2020 national top prospect. At 6’2 she simply does it all. Abdur-Rahim showed the ability to play every position on the floor effectively. She is a nightmare in transition and has an impact on all phases of the game.

Patsy Mosley 5’6 PG FBC YoungGunz
Mosley is better than the average high school point guard right now. Her court vision and passing ability sets her apart. She does a great job attacking the lane and creating for her teammates. Oh, she is also a lock down defender.

Avyonce Carter 5’10 G FBC YoungGunz
Carter is a stud! She can do it all. A very strong guard that welcomes physical play. She has a good handle, attacks the rim finishes with contact and has a nice stoke from behind the arc.

2021

Ja-El Miller 5’5 G Charlotte Flames 14u
Miller is very athletic guard that loves to finish in transition. She is at her best attacking off the dribble often finishing through contact.
