Many Michigan Players Performed Well At The Windy City Classic

Petree had a hot hand all tournament and she came up big both halves during bracket play

Pleasant Prairie, WI – The USJN Windy City Classic was off and running from the opening tip on Saturday morning with some good performances by standout players like Lasha Petree, Jalencia Williams and Molly Davis. Throughout the rest of the tournament, several other prospects made statements with clutch plays for their squads, while others displayed talent that was worthy of notice. Here are some of the top performances from throughout the weekend at the 2016 USJN Windy City Classic.

2020

Gabrielle Elliot  5’11”   Wing  Michigan Storm-Taylor
A scoring wing with a lot of talent that hasn’t even scratched the surface yet. Gabrielle is a pure athlete with size that can run in transition and is versatile on offense. She can shoot the ball out to the three point line; can handle it on the break, score at the rim, and pass the basketball efficiently.

Aaliyah McQueen  5’7”  Point Guard  Michigan Storm-Taylor
A tough guard that plays an aggressive attacking style on both ends of the court, McQueen is a skilled ball handler with quickness and strength that can blow by defenders with her first step off the dribble. She is a slasher that can score at the rim through contact as she was very good at maneuvering around bigger defenders to get the ball on the rim.

2019

Shemera Williams   5’7”  Point Guard   Wisconsin Playground Elite
A quick guard that was able to set up her teammates in transition, Williams saw plays two steps ahead of everyone else when she was speed-dribbling down the court. She is a crafty ball handler with a low center of gravity that was tough to contain with her speed.

Molly Davis  5’6”  Point Guard  Michigan Select
Davis is a change of pace guard with speed to push the ball and a developing mental game to handle the offense in the half-court. She showed her abilities as a scorer over the weekend, much of which came from the defensive end as she was able to create turnovers with her quickness and anticipation.

Zada Lacy  5’9”  Wing   Michigan Storm-Taylor
An energetic wing that has a nice athletic package and can handle the basketball as well in the open court; Lacy used her athleticism and her strength to get to the rim in transition. She is a good defender who plays with passion and works non-stop.

2018

Lasha Petree  6’0”  Wing  Michigan Storm-McAllister
Petree had a hot hand all tournament and she came up big both halves during bracket play. The 6 foot sophomore was able to make plays at the hoop, but made sure to display her touch from the perimeter and mid-range areas as well.

Madelyn Watters 5’8”  Wing  CCE
Watters is a pure shooter and has a nice floater in her arsenal. She sees and reads the floor well making some great passes to teammates. She played hard on both ends of the floor and helped to lead CCE to an undefeated weekend.

Maddie Maloney   5’7”  Point Guard  CCE
Maddie has a very high basketball IQ. She didn’t try to do too much and reads the floor well. She made some great passes to her teammates and was not afraid to drive into the paint against players that are much bigger than her. Maddie handled the ball fairly well and defensively caused a lot of problems for opponents with her hustle.

Allison Peplowski   6’2”  Post  CCE
Allison was solid in the couple games that I saw her play over the weekend. She ran the floor well, set solid screens to free up teammates for open shots, scored around the rim and even showed a nice shooting touch from 15 ft.

2017

Jaelincia Williams  6’3”  Post  Team Indiana Elite
Williams demonstrated what a true post player is supposed to do. She was nearly unstoppable every time she caught the ball on the low block. She used her wide frame to keep defenders on her back while posting up and when she caught the ball, she used her nimble footwork and strength to score with either hand.

Jordan Walker   5’7”  Point Guard  Michigan Storm-Love
Walker looks to be getting her explosion back. The Western Michigan commit took over the game in the 2nd half against Team Indiana Elite. She knocked down a couple of long range shots when she was left open and when being closely guarded was able to blow by her defender and attack the basket finishing through contact.
